Parts Needed to Flat Tow a 2012 Hyundai Accent GLS Behind RV with Air Brakes

Question:

The motorhome is a 2014 Tiffin Allergo Breeze with diesel engine and air brakes. I wish to flat tow a 2012 Hyundai Accent with manual transmission. Very interested in the Invisibrake system. Will this work and what other parts are required for a complete operable system.Would like to use the existing signal, running light on the car. I assume this is possible and is handled by the wiring harness to the back of the motorhome plug. The Blue Ox tow bar system seems to offer up some versatility, appreciate your comments and guidance.

The Roadmaster InvisiBrake part # RM-8700 has been confirmed to fit your 2012 Hyundai Accent; however it isn't the best system for you since your Tiffin Allergo Breeze has air brakes. The InvisiBrake uses the motorhome's brake lights to trigger the Hyundai's brakes. This can cause false braking and additional wear on the Accent when using the RV's exhaust brake. To prevent this use a system designed specifcally for air brakes like the Air Force One # SM99243. It doesn't use the motorome's brake lights to activate the Hyundai's brakes so you won't have this issue.

A set of Blue Ox base plates to go along with a Blue Ox tow bar would be a great choice, as like you said, they are very versatile. For a base plate kit you would need the # BX2333 since you have a GLS model without fog lights.

The Blue Ox Alpha Tow Bar part # BX7380 would be a great tow bar that is compatible. It comes with safety cables as well. Check out the review video I attached for more info.

For lighting you can use the bulb and socket kit, # RM-155 , and not have to worry about cutting and splicing into the vehicle wiring.

I have included a couple of helpful links to our articles on flat towing for you. Be sure to consult the vehicle owners manual for more specific information on flat towing your vehicle.
