Yes, either a slider hitch or a Sidewinder would be required for your 2014 Ram 2500 with a short bed to make tight turns and clear the cab of your truck.
Between the two options I would recommend a Sidewinder. You will need to remove the pin box of the trailer and replace it with a Sidewinder pin box. Sidewinders are pin box specific so you will first need to know what pin box you have know in order to pick out the correct one.
There should be a sticker or a stamping on the OEM pin box of the trailer that will list the pin box number that is on the trailer.
Once you figure out which pin box you have you can check the FAQ I attached that has a chart that shows the correct Sidewinder to get based on which pin box you have.
Then for a stationary hitch I would recommend the Reese Fifth Wheel Hitch part # RP30918 that has been confirmed to fit the factory rails of your under bed package. This hitch will require wedge kit # RP44FR if you use a sidewinder pin box.
A slider hitch would require you to get out of your truck and activate the slider every time you came to a parking lot where you needed to make tight turns. You would also need to install the rail kit # RP30154 to be able to install a slider hitch like the part # RP30051.
