Brake Controller and Wiring Harness Needed for a 2008 Dodge Ram 2500 Laramie Pickup
Question:
How can I tell if I have a 7 way or 4 way factory wiring harness under the dash? Or which harness should I order for a 2008 Dodge Ram 2500 Laramie? In the back at the bumper it has a 7 way plug in and a 4 way plug in.

Your Dodge Ram Pickup will have a 4 wire connector under the dash for brake controller installation. The connector will be under the dash on the left above the emergency brake pedal. 7-Way brake controller connections are not used, 7-Way connections are reserved for trailer connectors.
The Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Brake Controller # 90885, # 3020-P, has the correct wiring harness included with the brake controller, for your vehicle. I included installation instructions for this product for you to check out also.
Since you have a factory 7-way connector at the rear of the truck your installation will be complete after mounting the controller and plugging in the included harness.
