This wiring harness is everything as advertised. Being able to deliver signal without splicing the turn signal and brake wires is awesome. The install process is pretty involved, but the etrailer videos make it pretty straightforward, the toughest part is finding out which colors go to which wires on your vehicle. A $2 test light and a friend operating the turn stalks and brakes solves this problem. The programming portion is also pretty easy, I did it first time no problem. The power wire running to the 12v battery has fairly thick shielding too which is nice if you need to run the wire under the car.

It has never worked correctly. The item that I wanted to purchase was backordered with no release date. So, this wiring harness was not my first choice. The lights stay on even when the car is turned off. Unplugging the trailer is the only way to turn off the lights. We have learned to live with the inconvenience. Very disappointed! Save your money and chose a different item.

There is a intermittent outage and I can't figure it out. The problem occurs at start-up (when vehicle is turned on) and lasts about 5-10 minutes then lights on trailer come on. It happens about 20% of time. If you are traveling at night, this is a real problem. Also, the vehicle displays that a device that is draining the battery and when I disconnect the power to the module the message stops. I like the ZCI but I wonder with the vehicles multiplexing signals for lights could be the culprit.

What Types of Trailers Work with the ZCI Circuit Protected Vehicle Wiring Harness
The ZCI Circuit Protected Vehicle Wiring Harness part # 119250KIT will work on any trailer which uses a 4-way flat trailer connector which is the most common type. It doesn't matter what type of lights the trailer has whether it's incandescent or LED. It also does not matter how many lights the trailer has within reason. The only compatibility concerns you should have would be on the vehicle side but if you can let me know the year, make, and model of the vehicle I would be glad to confirm this for you. That said, it's universal and works on most vehicles without any splicing required.

Trailer Wiring Options for 2018 Audi Q5
For your 2018 Audi Q5 we have trailer wiring options that we have test fit on your vehicle and found that they worked well but they are all universal style harnesses that would require splicing like the # C59236 which I attached an install video for. The only other option that is similar that you might be interested in is the ZCI kit part # 119250KIT which instead of splices uses sensors that attach to the wires without requiring any cutting or splicing. I attached an install video for this as well. I know you said you didn't want a kit that had the 4-way stored outside of the vehicle but this is the only option for your vehicle and the upside to this setup is that it gets the connector out of the elements which will prevent corrosion.

2024 Kia Sportage

I'm not much of a review writer but for etrailer I'm willing to give it a go. This part came quickly, made of solid construction, and was super-easy to install. From the time I opened the package until the time it was installed was literally less than 2 minutes. The lock washer-nut to secure it makes it unnecessary to hold the nut in place with a pair of pliers. Once threaded thru to tighten, it was about 3 turns on each screw and I was done. The bracket fit perfectly to the hitch...talk about teeing up an "Easy Button" for the customer. Finally, I've interacted with their sales and service department also, they are top-notch, smart, and professional. I purchased my trailer hitch from them also (actually I have their hitches on both my vehicles).

This is my second trailer hitch, I have purchased though etrailer. Quality is great, my only problem with this one is the box. The bottom of the box was torn all the way across. The box had to be re-taped close. The hitch has scratches and paint missing. The hitch and the box it came in is excellent quality. My suggest, when packing the hitch, put bubble or styrofoam wrap around the three end. That way it will not move in the box and still have some give to it.

2015 Ford Explorer

Solid enough, seems to only be able to slide through one way. I put it in the other way for a cleaner look but now it doesn't hold as well. I had to put a small bead of silicone to hold it in place.

Will The EcoHitch Fit My 2022 Subaru Forester With Wilderness Trim Package
After doing some research The EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver # 306-X7391 is confirmed to fit your 2022 Subaru Forester with the Wilderness trim package. I like the EcoHitch over the other hitches that we offer because it has a concealed cross tube. The hidden cross tube will install behind your Subaru Forester's rear bumper, leaving only the receiver visible beneath it. If you plan on towing a trailer I recommend the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118467. I like this plug and play harness over the others we offer because it has a more reliable converter box and will last longer than the other harnesses that we offer. You will also need the Curt Towing Starter Kit # C45554, which includes an 8-1/4 inch long, powder coated ball mount with a pre-torqued hitch ball; hitch pin and clip; hitch receiver lock with keys; hitch cover; and a storage case. I linked two installation videos below of the EcoHitch and the T-One harness being installed on your exact 2022 Subaru Forester. If you have any further questions in regard to your towing journey, please reach back out to me and I will be more than happy to further assist you in your towing endeavors.

Trailer Wiring Harness and Bracket for 2022 Toyota RAV4 with Curt Hitch
All of the parts would work great on your 2022 Toyota RAV4 with the Curt hitch part # C13416 that you have installed. The Curt harness part # C56434 is confirmed as a fit for your vehicle. You could use the 3/8 inch wire loom # 39035 to keep it protected, use the part # 18144 with the # 18136 to mount it to your hitch tube, and then use the tester # I26 as well to know it works.

Connector bundle easy to install & worked great. Although the instructions say to feed the bed connector from the bottom it seemed easier to feed the bumper connectors from the upper the bed connector hole

Ordered hitch receiver with wiring for bike rack installation on 2019 Ford Explorer. Everything arrived in less than a week. Crawled under the car with my burly son and finished the installation in about an hour. Toughest part was getting the exhaust hangers off. Didn't have a tool for that. Online installation video was a big help. Hitch frame rubs against right side exhaust hanger, hence the four star rating instead of five. Exhaust still appears to be level and no weird noises, so not an issue. Get the little plug in light tester. It's worth it, then keep it in the glove box. Haven't purchased bike rack yet, but no concerns about the hitch.

Nice and thick, stay in place and keep the pins corrosion free. For general connector lube, this will last me a long time.

Trailer Brakes Do Not Engage While Towing With 2012 Toyota Sienna
I took a look at the owner's manual for the 2012 Toyota Sienna and was not able to find a fuse location dedicated to trailer brakes. There was a fuse location for trailer lights but not brakes. It makes sense that the fuse location does not exist because the 2012 Toyota Sienna only came pre-wired for a 4-flat trailer connector from the manufacturer not a 7-way connector like what is needed to power trailer brakes with a brake controller. It sounds like you may have a 7-way connector hardwired on the Sienna. To find out why the trailer brakes are not engaging the first step is to inspect the 7-way pins for corrosion, damage or dirt. If the brake output pin is bent or damaged the trailer brakes may not engage. I also recommend to check the ground wire on the 7-way connector to make sure it is ground to a clean bare metal surface. We have found that corrosion and ground problems are the reason for malfunction in most of our wiring situations. If all of your pins are clean, not damaged and the ground is okay then it sounds like you have a short on the brake output wire somewhere between the brake controller and the trailer brakes. Check the brake output pin on the 7-way vehicle connector with a circuit tester like part # PTW2993 while someone applies the manual override on the brake controller. I have attached a photo that shows the pin positions of a standard vehicle 7-way for your reference. If the circuit tester is fully illuminated then you are getting full voltage to the pin on the vehicle side and the issue is on the trailer's side wiring. Check the brake output wire (most commonly a blue wire) on the trailer side for frayed or damaged wiring. You also want to check the grounds on the braking assemblies to make sure they are properly grounded to a clean bare metal surface on the trailer's frame. If the circuit tester is not showing full power (dimly lit) at the brake output pin or no power at all, then the brake output wire between the brake controller and the vehicle's 7-way is the issue. Since your 7-way is hardwired on the Sienna, you want to check all of your connections at the back of the brake controller to make sure they are not loose. Check all of your connections from the brake controller, especially the stop light switch. Check the ground the brake controller as well. You also want to make sure the 12V power is properly connected to the battery. The last step if you are still having trailer brake issues after you checked the connections, is to test the blue wire from the back of the brake controller. You can cut the blue wire 6 inches back from the brake controller to test for voltage. If you do not have proper voltage there, the brake controller needs to be replaced. I do not think you will need to go this far because like I said a lot of wiring issues comes down to the ground or corrosion on the 7-way pins.

Why are My Trailer Brakes Losing Power?
One thing to do to troubleshoot your issue with the brake wiring is to make sure that you are getting power from the vehicle's 7-way to the braking pin on your trailer's 7-way connector. I went ahead and attached the diagrams of the pin setups on different styles of 7-way connectors. If you need a circuit tester, I recommend part # PTW2993. It is possible that there are some frayed wiring and some corrosion at the pin location as well. When testing this circuit, it is important to use the manual override on the brake controller instead of simply stepping on the brake pedal. As far as the wire that connects to your trailer's brakes from the trailer's 7-way, I went ahead and attached a diagram that shows the wiring setup for the wiring that goes to both sets of brakes. As you can see, the blue braking wire should not affect the brake lights of the trailer in any way. With that being said, if you are having trouble with the driver's side brake lights, that is a separate issue from the brakes. You will need to go through the process of checking for wire fraying and corrosion in the connector as well.

2018 Subaru Outback Wagon

I installed the draw tite hitch onto my brand new 2018 Subaru outback. I'm 68 years old, not as strong as I was, but proud to say I did the job all by myself in about 4 hours. Here are some tips you may find useful. Watch the video-it’s pretty good. I had difficulty getting the exhaust system down and worried about getting it up again from the moment I got it down...read on-help will follow. I bought a stepup drill bit which worked great for drilling the hole in the chasis. I clamped the hitch onto a floor jack, then rolled it and raised it into position. Used metal shears to easily cut out the heat shield as per the video. Your inclination will be the screw the fishing tool provided all the way up the carriage bolt. That won’t work; just screw it on to the tip of the bolt. I couln’t get the exhaust hangars in place even after lubricating them with wd-40. I dropped the rubber hangars into undiluted liquid car wash soap which made them much more slippery than the wd-40. After that the rubber hangars slipped into place pretty easily-that’s my best tip. Finding the electric connection plug for the wiring harness was almost as hard as installing the hitch. I was very happy with how the job came out. Good luck.

2018 Subaru Forester

Ball mount kit arrived quickly (within a few days) upon placing order online. Parts were shipped loose in box and bottom flap on box was open when received. Fortunately, all the parts were still in box and in good condition. Kit includes ball mount hardware I need to pull trailers with different hitch heights.

Towing Capacity for 2018 Chevy Traverse AWD
5,000 lbs appears to be the weight capacity of the 2018 Chevy Traverse if it has the 3.6 liter V6 engine and 1,500 lbs if the engine is the 2.0 4 cylinder. Those figures are the fully loaded capacity that your truck can tow. If you are going to be at the capacity of vehicle a weight distribution system would be recommended. For that I recommend the Strait Line part # RP66082 which has a tongue weight range of 200-600 lbs and features the best sway control designed to fight sway before it starts. If you need a trailer hitch too you'd want the Curt part # CU29FR or the etrailer # e56YR and you'd be set too. For a brake controller I would recommend the Redarc Tow Pro Elite part # 331-EBRH-ACCV2. This is one of our best selling brake controller because of how well it works and how easy it is to setup. This is a proportional brake controller that senses the amount of braking the tow vehicle is applying and applies a proportionate amount to the trailer brakes. This controller also has a very small knob that installs on the dash instead of much bigger controllers. For wiring you will need to start with a 4-way (if you do not have one). For that you would want the # C56394. From there you would need to convert the 4-way to a 7-way so that you can install the brake controller. For that you will want the Brake Controller Install Kit and 7-Way Adapter part # ETBC7. I attached installation instructions and an install video for this product as well.
