Today will be taking a look at the best top replacement hood latch for Jeep's. Available in black with part number B5129101 or in chrome part number B5129100. The best top hood latches are going to fit your 1942 through 1995 Jeep CJ, YJ, Wrangler, and even Scrambler. The latch is spring loaded and pivots to hold your hood in place. The kit comes with two latches and all the hardware you need to get them install. Those colors will compliment your Jeep nicely, but the black ones come in a powder coat finish so they're going to resist rust and corrosion. Now that we've gone over some of the features I'll go head and show you how to get it installed.

Your going to find particular with your older Jeep's, that they're all rusted out and are primed for replacement. So we're going to go head and take it off and replace it with new ones. To remove the bottom portion of the hood latch we're going to need to remove these here, so you need to get underneath the wheel well and take those out. Now we sprayed it with some spray lubricant just to help loosen up the nuts. Let's go head and start taking those off. Then next will need to take off the upper portion of our latch so let's crack open the hood.

Now we can go head and grab our hooked portion of the latch. We need to make sure that the hook is facing towards the hood and then we can just use our existing holes. So will just sit it over the holes, get it nice and lined up, then we can grab our included hardware. We're going to run that through, and then put the nuts on the other side. Now when putting the nuts on the bottom, it's not a bad idea to put some pressure on the top of the latch just to hold those screws in place.

Now let's go ahead and snug that up. Now for the top portion of the latch, will just need to make sure that the notched end is facing up as you see it here and then will just put our included hardware in just the same as below. Now that we've repeated the same process on the other side, let's go head and shut the hood. Perfect.
