Purchased a pair for our 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee towing a nuCamp 400 from FL to AK and back. Three months and around 16k miles.
Pros - other than an adjustment the second day, I never had to adjust the tension straps again. They were easy to mount and did not interfere with our mirrors folding inward. They weathered three months on the road without issue though I was beginning to worry about the straps becoming brittle. I noticed this once I removed them. Had I kept them, I would have used some silicon to rejuvenate the rubber.
Cons - the only con is they shake. They shake to the point that sometimes I couldn't distinguish what exactly was behind me. I knew there was a vehicle, but the distortion from the vibration prohibited me from getting a clear view of exactly what was behind us.
Impressions - they worked for our trip but I knew I would want something else for our next long trip, so we invested in a Furrion Reviewing Camera.

My rating is less to do with the product and more with etrailer. I ordered an identical mirror (CIPA model 11950) on amazon for less than half the price, 1 day shipping, free delivery, and it did not fit my vehicle so I bought the one etrailer recommended for my vehicle. I thought it was CIPA model 7070 but that is just the etrailer model #. I got CIPA model 11950 which I already have. Now I need to return the ones to etrailer and I'm being charged $16 to do so. This could have been avoided if the CIPA model number was immediately visible in the description (it is there in small print at the bottom). Also, my vehicle's mirror (2018 explorer) is not the same as the 2018 explorer in the video and picture. So it's not accurate for etrailer to say it fits all 2018 Explorers.

I am sorry to hear these didnt fit for you. That is the down side to the universal fit mirrors. They fit most mirrors but not all. It doesnt look like we have any custom fit mirror options to offer you either. You might like to try part # 40375-2. They attach differently and clip on versus straps. Maybe they will fit better. Its always a good idea to look at the dimensions and measure the mirrors you have to ensure a fit.

by:

Great fit for my jeep gladiator! And great price. We tow a travel trailer camper and these work great for the price.

by:

I had read the mixed reviews about this mirror, took my chances and bought a pair of them. The one I placed on the driver's side was fine; the one on the passenger side, however, was magnified almost to the point of being useless (one of the reviewers from Aug 2012 mentioned this). I thought the passenger side one was defective and was about to call etrailer. But then I decided to try them on both sides, and lo and behold the one on the driver's side was normal and the one on the passenger side was over-magnified. So it would seem that the farther you get from this mirror the more magnification you get. They vibrated quite a bit at highway speed but not intolerably so. etrailer has always been great with speedy delivery with no mistakes on my orders, and I don't fault them, but this is a product I think they should consider discontinuing -- unless, of course, all clip-on mirrors also have this magnification problem. I don't have anything to compare them with.

After a year and about 5000 miles of towing my travel trailer, these mirrors are still in good shape, they have never come loose. They strap onto my 2017 Silverado without any problem, but on the drivers side the built-in convex mirror gets mostly covered up, an inconvenience but not a deal breaker. They are still intact despite the extreme shaking, which is something you have to deal with and remember their most basic function: to see if there is traffic in the next lane. Dont expect them to be stable like your stock mirrors. For the price they are a good deal.

Thanks for the follow up, I have provided a link to our custom fit towing mirrors that we currently offer for your 2017 Chevy Silverado. Since your existing mirrors are a universal mirror option, covering the OEM convex portion is an understandable concern. However, a custom fit towing mirror will not cause any obstruction on your OEM mirrors, and will be more secure since they are a custom fit to the profile of your truck mirrors.

by:

first, let me say that this does fit my 2007 jeep grand Cherokee but the mirror itself is rather small and doesn't help a whole lot. Still, every little bit of added vision is far safer than none at all and I do not regret my decision to purchase a pair of these mirrors.

these mirrors do not make noise while driving but I found they really do not stick out far enough to be very helpful while towing my particular trailer...still, they have held up well

by:

While this product might work great for some people, it did not work well for me. I drive a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The Cipa Universal Clip-On mirrors attached fine and were tight. However, while towing the extension mirrors would vibrate to the point that they were irritating to look at and were basically unusable. So mid trip I took them off and never used them again. I am not sure if it is just the aerodynamics of my vehicle or if this is a common problem with all extension mirrors.

by:

Goes on easy, stays put. A good replacement for the on I dipped and broke.

by:

I have owned a few of these types of mirrors over the years and this one is pretty similar to past mirrors in design and function. It does the job of giving you visibility behind you trailer, but there are some downsides to keep in mind. It isn’t the simplest thing to attach to a mirror (but a bit better than some other designs I have had), and no matter what I do, these types of mirrors always have a fair bit of vibration on the highway making it difficult to use (still works, just not perfect to be honest). That said, would buy this again.

by:

Not for 2015 Highlander. These seem like nice mirrors and I wish I could use them but in my opinion, they do not work for a 2015 Toyota Highlander. I bought them based on an answered question that they would work. Three (or two) major problems. First the shape of the Highlander mirror is such that the thickest part is closest to the car and it gets progressively more narrow towards the outer end. That means there is nothing to keep the straps from sliding off - it might be OK for short distances. It needs some kind of keeper system. Second, the strap is only just barely long enough to engage the buckle at the fattest part of the mirror. There is not enough through the buckle to stop it from slipping out. A longer strap would work here. Third, part of the highlander mirror is very close to the edge of the housing - I can't confirm if that is really a problem and it might depend on how the individual driver adjusts the mirror. I never really got one attached well enough that I would trust driving with it. I have found no other alternative mirrors that work.

by:

We ordered extension mirrors for our vehicle to use when we pull our camper. They fit our mirrors perfectly. Can't wait to hit the road.

Ruth M.

7/24/2019

They are working well for us. We purchased them for towing our camper.

by:

Mirrors were easy to install and adjust. Worked well on a two-hour trip on the highway. No sign of fatigue in the rubber straps holding the mirrors to the car mirrors.

Mary

7/21/2022

Havent had a need to use them since then.

by:

This mirror was absolutely useless. It is the wrong style mirror to use for towing as it zooms in on what you are looking at. Instead of being able to see what is going on around your trailer, this mirror zooms in to a 4ftx4ft area and doesn't let you see anything at all. It ended up being more of a distraction when I would look to my mirrors to make a lane change and see a zoomed in picture of the side of the road. I took it off after 400 miles into our 2000 mile trip and tossed it in the back of the car.

by:

Have not used yet. Needed mirror extensions when pulling camper. Will use this spring and summer.

Was shipped quickly, and no damage to the packaging. Reasonable pricing if works as described. Can not find instructions for mounting, but seems self explanatory.

etrailer indicates no instructions from manufacture.

by:

They are a good idea and we used them for awhile but the connectors conflicted with adjusting the stock electric mirrors on our 2006 Lexus GX470 tow truck.
I was afraid I'd burnout the mirror motors especially when you put the transmission in reverse and the mirrors move lots.

by:

Adequate attachments; however, factory mounted extended mirrors would probably be better (as they'd more likely be more secure when driving). Take caution that the elastic straps are secure, they may slip a little and be readjusted. A disadvantage for attaching to the passenger side is the hooks are needed to be secured on the bottom, which seems to contribute to that side mirror's strap slipping more-so than the driver's side.

by:

For the price, this towing Clip-On is great for the short-hall towing I do locally for my small boat and snowmobile trailers. I can use it for the two vehicles I have with hitches very easily: VW Alltrack & Jeep Wrangler.

by:

Could be a little bigger. Does the job and good price. Quick to install. No instructions but you'll figure it out unless you are a moron. Loosen all the screws just a bit. Get the mirrors perfect then tighten the screws TIGHT. Lets me see back with the camper on waaay better.

All good.

by:

My order came today just when I was told it would be delivered.
I bought a tow mirror and "L" bracketts for a Husky trailer hitch.
I have already installed the replacement bracket and tow mirror.
I can always ( so far) find what I need at etrailer.

by:

Got hitch for my Kia Sportage and this lady of 62 was able to put on myself with very good directions. Did need friend with impact wrench to drive the bolts on completely . Thanks so much for the wonderful videos. Product worked excellent. Other products including mirror, caster and foot plate work wonderfully and excellent value.

by:

They clip on easy to the mirrors. They do vibrate while attached driving some. I would like to up grade to a fixed mirror that pulls out for trailering.

Same no real change in how they perform

by:

Like the size and view when towing they provide. The strap on one of the mirrors broke on the second use, and two more uses and the second mirror same thing. They remain on the work bench now unused.

by:

After using for a year, I’m glad I purchased these. The mirrors stay in their respective positions. Even with me removing them and reattaching many times. If I did have a complaint, it would be that they are stiff enough that they can be hard to adjust sometimes. The rubber straps also seem to to be slightly weather (but what do you expect after a year of use). Great product if you don’t have tow mirrors and need a little extra viewing.

by:

I ordered the outside mirror extensions for my Dodge truck. I was a little skeptical about how sturdy they would be after installation. Received them in 3 days, installed them and they work perfect. Easy to install, and extremely secure. Also, easy to remove. I give them a five star rating, and six stars to etrailer for their excellent customer service. I will order from them again, and tell all my friends.

by:

I bought these for my Honda Pilot and towed a pop-up camper about 700 miles to the white mountains, highway and back roads. The mirrors were a little bouncy but they stayed put and didn't need re-adjusting. very good for the money.

by:

Great product for the price. Worked with my 2010 VW Touareg mirrors without issues
