A Safe Ride is a Comfortable Ride

If you're looking for the best tie-downs for your camper, frame-mounted is the way to go. The frame is the most solid part of your entire vehicle, so it just makes sense to attach your camper to something that's not going to warp, bend, or twist. Even more importantly, the camper's center of gravity will sit lower and its weight will be spread across the entire bed. This avoids a top-heavy load perched on top of your bed rails that's liable to sway and get pushed around by crosswinds. The camper's not going to shift or slide around while you drive; it's going to stay put, and your truck is going to handle just like it does without a camper.

Quick Tip: If you have a plastic or spray-in bed liner, it's important that you use a rubber mat under the camper to eliminate any sliding or bouncing.

Don't Ruin Your Truck's Looks

Frame-mounted tie-downs are also a great pick for preserving your truck's good looks. The brackets install on the frame, tucked nearly flush with the underside of the vehicle. Remove the arms from the brackets when you're not hauling your camper, and the brackets will be barely visible.

Custom Fit, No-Drill Installation

Completely custom to your vehicle, the tie-downs attach to exisiting holes in your frame so that there's little to no drilling and no need for any modifications. Because they're custom, you'll want to use our in-house application guide to make sure you get the exact right model. The tie-downs you need might be different depending on what type of hitch or other accessories you have.

Securing Your Camper

TorkLift Tie Down Example

Once the tie-downs are installed, use a set of turnbuckles (sold separately) to secure the camper to the tie-downs. The shank on each arm has 2 pin holes so you can choose how far out they extend, that way the turnbuckles can reach the anchors on your camper without making contact with your truck. Tighten the turnbuckles to the correct level of tension (not too tight!).

where to put camper tie downs

Make sure the anchor points are offset from the tie-downs instead of lined up with them so that they will hold your camper from multiple angles. This is important for keeping your camper from shifting. Two holes in the attachment plate of the tie-downs let you find the best angle for you camper anchors.

Easy to install. Took less than an hour with no helper. They are very sturdy and I expect them to last.
2020 RAM 3500 with OEM hitch.

by: Jennifer03/21/2021

My brother installed these and he used air tools. The brackets fit perfectly. The instructions were thorough. They bolted right in and the only delay was the disconnect/reconnect of the e-brake cable to install the driver's side bracket (2019 RAM 3500). After all the parts were laid out, he installed all 4 brackets in an hour.
He commented many times on the weight, high quality and PERFECT FIT of these brackets. These are worth the price and made in the USA.

Product itself was easy enough to install, works as designed, very happy. Shipping boxes however were not quite adequate for the job, needs improvement!

Product was easy enough to install, works as designed, very happy. Shipping boxes continue to be an issue, not up to the job!

The strength and quality are pretty good but there are already spots showing a bit of rust after just one year of use. Wish the aluminum had been in stock.

Feel strong and solid with the camper but already seeing some rust in places. Wish the aluminum had been in stock.

by: David11/02/2023

They are as advertised, they work. There is no drilling required and therefore no wreaking of the frame. It seems that the truck manufacturers are serious about the payloads and drilling may load to overloads and frame failure. Of course etrailer is great to do business with

by: Jim05/15/2024

Rock solid tie down. Easy to install. Would recommend to anyone looking for a truck frame camper tie down system.

by: Allan10/08/2023

I verify that TLD3112 fit the 2024 Ram 3500 8 ft bed with class 5 hitch. Good instructions, very easy installation. Remember to have a torque wrench handy to finish up.

Dodge Ram Pickup

2021 RAM 2500 w Factory long running boards. Like any other review, the parking brake cable is the only hard part to the install. Great kit.

by: Dale10/13/2021

No instructions and have to remove emergency brake cables for install…going to a shop now…gggrrrrr

by: Richard06/29/2023

I really like the way the truck and camper ride, very stable. The ability to remove the extensions when the camper is off is really a nice feature too.

by: Gary P10/09/2022

Good fit to my vehicle.

by: Steve 03/24/2024

Fit perfectly and fast shipping !

by: Kevin07/16/2022

Did not fit properly, welded some scrap metal on frame attachment bracket to fix. When bolted to rear cab mount frame attachment bracket was a poor fit.

by: Patrick 02/24/2024

Great product have used it on an older pickup that I have. Best way to secure your camper to the.truck.

by: Dave Armstrong07/25/2023

Once I received the product, it took me about 2 hours to install. Was simple, and the instructions were easy to follow. Looks great on my Ram 3500.

by: William09/27/2021

Unable to install, all hardware lost in shipping, contacted etrailer and they said they would send me replacement hardware, that was three or four days ago. I have not received any updates about the new parts or if thay have been shopped

by: Steve 12/26/2021

This was a no-drill installation on a 2020 Ram 3500 using factory bolt locations. If your truck has a Mopar retractable bumper step, it must be removed in order to install the driver side tie-down. In my application, carrying a Lance 650, the draw-bar extended out too far from the truck. I had to drill another hole in the draw-bar so that there was clearance for my TorkLift Fastguns to attach.

by: Gerald 12/05/2021

This frame mounted camper tiedown was well made and as advertised required no welding. Unfortunately, for the front driver's side of the truck, it required a disassembly and reassembly of the parking brake cable. Taking apart and putting back together the parking brake cable was by far the most difficult part of the job and there was no warning this would be required when purchasing the product. Also, I think there were errors in the torquing requirements some of which were beyond what I could do by hand even with an extension. However this high torque requirement may have been for the back frame mounts not the front. The big advantage of this system is that you can take off the extension that actually connects to the tie down, so nothing is sticking out from the truck when the camper is off.

by: Cameron05/05/2022

I paired these with the front mounts and am totally pleased. Easy to install and simple to use. I would recommend these for any size camper, not just the juggernaut class ones. They keep your camper rock solid and not wallowing around like you see some of the bed-mounted brackets.

I've been installing TorkLift tiedowns on my previous Super Duty pickups for 20 years. I now have a new one ton Ram and I wanted to get another set of Torklifts because they're the best tie down system there is. The earlier ones required drilling holes in the frame; it wasn't a big deal, it's just how they were made. But man, these new ones! First of all, they're BEEFY. Much heavier than the older ones. And they're not painted; these are powder coated and look very nice. Installation using the existing factory mounts and holes is sure better than drilling. The only issue was the parking brake cable, which has to come off. It was a bit of a pain. I needed a much deeper 1/2" socket than anything I had in order to back off the adjusting nut... so I used a little redneck technology by inserting a larger socket over the 1/2" deep socket and just taping the heck out of it to hold them together. Go ahead and laugh but it worked. One thing's for sure--- my big Lance camper ain't coming off with THESE beasts holding it on. And the only way to keep your camper in place and NOT risk damaging the bed is by anchoring it to the frame. And these are MADE IN AMERICA. They're not some inferior, light gauge steel made in you-know-where. Same for the hardware. Expensive? A little, unless you consider it as an investment in making sure your REALLY expensive camper stays put. Five stars... unless I can give them six.

by: Kyle12/27/2020

Installed easily, had to remove fold out bumper step on my Ram as they occupy the same space and instructions say won't fit with step so knew that going in. Didn't want the bumper mount type so small sacrifice for a superior product.
