Detail K2 Plow Length

The Detail K2 snowplow conveniently slides into your vehicle's front-mounted trailer hitch for fast, simple mounting. Easily raise and lower the plow from the comfort of your cab with the remote-controlled electric winch. The pivoting blade makes this plow ideal for rocky or uneven surfaces because it can adjust to the terrain.

Simple, Hitch-Mounted Installation

This hitch-mounted snowplow simply slides into your vehicle's front trailer hitch receiver, making it a breeze to install. A plow that attaches to custom-fit brackets ties you down to just 1 vehicle. But this hitch-mounted plow can be used on most trucks or SUVs with a 2" x 2" front-mounted hitch. As a result, this plow can be easily switched between multiple vehicles. And because it offers a nearly universal fit, you won't have to buy a new plow when you replace your old vehicle.

Detail K2 Hitch Mount

To install the snowplow, just slide the shank of the plow assembly into your 2" trailer hitch receiver (sold separately). Then use a pin and clip or a hitch lock (sold separately) to secure the plow in the receiver.

Detail K2 Caster Wheel

The snowplow comes with flip-down caster wheels that make the installation process even easier on you. Simply flip the wheels into position and you will be able to roll the plow into position for mounting or storage. The height of the wheels can also be adjusted to match the height of your vehicle.

How to Plow

Detail K2 Adjustable Plow Position

Once the plow is mounted on your vehicle, lower the blade and set it to the desired angle. To set the angle, exit the vehicle and manually position the plow straight ahead, to the left, or to the right. Angling the blade allows you to push snow off to the side where you want it without having to change the angle of your entire vehicle. This is especially useful on a driveway or a private roadway where piling the snow straight ahead would create a barrier.

Detail K2 Wireless Remote 2.4Ghz

The plow comes with a wireless remote that allows you to stay warm and out of the elements while still effectively controlling the plow. The remote operates on a 2.4 GHz frequency, allowing it to quickly send signals to the winch without experiencing delays. And because it's wireless, you won't have to run wires through your dash. Nor will you have to leave your window cracked open in the middle of a snow storm just so that you can run a wired remote into your cab. You will be glad to have it on those cold winter days.

To begin plowing, just drive forward. When backing up to take another pass, be sure to lift the plow with the remote, then lower it again before moving forward. When approaching a large pile of snow, be sure to decrease your speed. Slamming into a pile of snow can void the warranty on the snowplow.

When you are finished, put your vehicle in park and lower the plow. Remove the plow from your vehicle after every use.

Easy Lifting with Electric Winch

Detail K2 Electric Winch

The electric winch on this plow allows you to easily lift and lower the blade using the wireless remote control. If you prefer, you can also install the included in-cab toggle switch to control the plow. The winch uses a durable strap, which is much quieter than a chain, to raise and lower the plow.

Detail K2 Features

Detail K2 Skid Shoes

The snowplow features skid shoes that allow you to adjust the height of your plow. This allows you to efficiently plow over surfaces that are uneven, such as gravel roads.

Detail K2 Blade Stiffener

Blade stiffeners, or blade support brackets, reinforce the connection between the plow and your vehicle. They add 2 additional points of contact with your hitch on either side of the plow's T-frame. This prevents stress on the frame and on your vehicle, while also strengthening the performance of the plow.

Detail K2 Trip Springs

Shock-absorbing springs allow the plow to dip forward in the event that you hit an obstruction. This flexibility protects you and your vehicle from impacts.

Great easy plow to use. The hardware that came in was missing a couple nuts and bolts. Had to run to the hardware store a couple times to get the proper bolts and nuts. The plow doesn't come assembled. So expect a good evening to build this unit. First two years was great and the scraping was good. Back dragging slacks but again a lot of plows do that. So it's not terrible but does enough. Just leaves 1/4 of snow behind. But pushing snow forward works and scrapes nice on asphalt or concrete. The battery that came with the kit for the wireless controller didn't last 1 month. So be prepared to upgrade that. But it's been now on my 3rd year, one of the springs failed on it and currently searching for the replacement. The plow itself has a one year warranty so of course it's past due now. Overall it works and it's nice. Wish I had bought the power left and right but the manual lever works too. Also the side markers prematurely failed too so I had to buy meyer yellow ones from fleet farm. Cost another $xx. But I will update this as time goes.

by: Daniel12/20/2022

It has been working very well as we have actually had a decent amount of snow so far this year. took a little longer than I thought it would to assemble and mount it but after it was on it works great and looks good.

I got to say I'm one of the picky shoppers. I must see all reviews thoroughly, check it out from every angle and see multiple pictures before even being convinced to buy something online. I'm a welder and I was thinking about fabricating my own. After considering all the time for mounting breaking ,the plates drilling slotted holes. Steel price and then powder coating. This right here was an absolute supreme option all the work is done guaranteed to fit. So I took the Gamble and bought it and are not disappointed with their quality. Just like everything says I put it together in 45 minutes me and my 13 year old son. It is quite heavy lifting overhead to bolt up. Recommend having another person help you lift one side while fastening the bolt. The hardest part was getting the bolt to go through the sq punch out with the spring coil wire attachment that pulls the bolt through the frame. End result I'm extremely happy I did not have to cut any plastics or modify anything on my truck whatsoever. My truck is a 2001 Ford F-150 four-wheel drive crew cab. Now I have me my 9,000 lb winch on the front of my truck.

2000 FordF-150

Installed this hitch on my 2000 Ford F150 4x4. It fit perfectly. No facia needed to be removed and no frame drilling was necessary. I simply removed the tow hooks and skid plate and bolted up the hitch and reinstalled the tow hooks. I notched the edges of the skid plate to clear the hitch frame (small angle grinder worked fine for this) and reinstalled the skid plate. Installation was simple and straight forward. The attached pictures may be a little dark but I attempted to show the hitch tucked up against the factory facia.

I have had this for about a year and have used it numerous times. It works great. Wish I would have installed it years ago.

by: Steve10/25/2017

Product fit as it should. Was very easy to install, I did not need to modify anything, just bolt it on!. It fit my winch just fine, looks as though any winch receiver mount will fit just fine. Very sturdy, good welds, solid design. Only downside is that it does decrease your approach angle (if you are a off road guy)... but not by much. etrailer.com was very helpful with my questions, and their answers were accurate.

Still mounted, not rusted, looks brand new still. Only used it a few times and it did its job just fine.

2003 FordF-150

2003 F-150 4X4 Lariat. I accomplished installation alone in about 1 hour as a complete newbie. Here are my tips:
1. Read instructions and other comments ahead of time.
2. Spray the tow hook bolts a day or two ahead of time with a penetrating oil spray.
3. There is nothing to hold the factory nut plate (inside the frame rail) when the tow hook bolts are removed. After I removed the first tow hook bolt and loosened the other one for some "working room), I threaded a thin piece of flexible wire through the bolt hole and nut plate, out another nearby hole on the side of the frame rail and twisted it together to keep the factory nut plate in position. Then, I removed the second tow hook bolt and the tow hook. Leave the flexible wire in place for now. Do the same on both sides of the vehicle.
4. You have to temporarily remove the tow hooks completely but I did not have to remove any other trim / fascia.
5. The fish wire is essential. I passed the empty threaded portion of the fish wire through the bolt hole for the new bolt from below and advanced it toward the front of the vehicle. There is enough room once it comes out of the front of the frame rail to thread on the new bolt ... with the new nut plate included ... then pull it into the inside of the frame rail behind the bumper fascia ... then wiggle / "jimmy" it back until it drops into position.
6. Once the new bolt / nut plate was in position, I used a few drops of super glue to tack the nut plate into position through another nearby square hole where the new nut plate was visible. Do the same on both sides of the vehicle.
7. I used a hydraulic floor jack to position the receiver under the vehicle. A little metal lip at the center of the receiver fit right into the notches on the cup of the jack.
8. I carefully raised the receiver into position with the jack. I started a little bit toward the back of the vehicle. This let the front lip of the receiver slide forward into the fascia opening for the tow hook. Once the front of the receiver was through that, I lined it up, raised it and the new bolts (with the super-glued nut plates inside the frame rail) came through the receiver mounting holes perfectly. I put the two new nuts on the two new bolts "finger tight".
9. I raised the receiver a little further but leaving a few mm of space between the front of the receiver and the frame rail ... where the flexible wire mentioned above was coming out. The holes should line up at this point. Leave the flexible wire in place for now.
10. Use one hand to hold the tow hook in position. Thread one of the original tow hook bolts through the the tow hook, the receiver, the hole in the frame WITHOUT the flexible wire and into the nut plate inside the frame rail "finger tight". This will "grab" the factory nut plate inside the frame rail. Now, you can untwist / pull out the flexible wire through the other tow bolt hole and thread that bolt as well. Repeat the process for the other side of the vehicle.
11. Now, all 6 bolts / nuts are threaded in position "finger tight". Tighten / torque them sequentially ... and you're done!

The DK2 plow and hitch are awesome! As always, the communication from Etrailer from order to delivery is top-notch. Assembling the plow and mounting the hitch was easy. Took about 4 hours with me enjoying a few beers and taking my time one evening after work. Took on wiring the next day. I like a clean finish, so this part took me about 2 hours. I placed the control module on the fuse block as suggested (etrailer's videos are a BIG help). I placed the remote transmitter on the drivers side. I ran the plow lead down to the hitch from inside the vehicle. There is just enough wiring supplied and this allows me to tuck the connector inside the hitch when not in use. A hitch cover protects it from the elements. First use was 30" of snowfall! I plowed for about 3 hours straight. The engine compartment did get warm which made the control wiring warm and pliable; so the connector came out of the control module mid way through plowing. I used some dielectric grease and it stayed connected the remainder of my plowing. It takes some practice to hitch up to the plow easily. This set up took a beating first time out. Sure glad I ordered it!!

by: Donald11/02/2022

The delivery was excellent. All four packages arrived early. Curt instructions were not clear for my f150. The third bolt spreader was too short but I got it tighten down. The only thing Curt needs to tell you is to insert something in the front hole of eye. It keeps the spreader in line while installing the hitch.

by: Billy 01/04/2024

The hitch was a bolt on application, no drilling, a perfect fit. The only thing I had to do was notch the dust pan that bolts to the bottom of the frame, that was a 5-10 minute job. Great product, would definitely buy/suggest this front hitch!

2001 FordF-150

Fit perfectly, easy to install. The fish wire is brilliant! Very stout receiver, good welds and paint. No modifications required on my 2001 F-150 4x4 crew cab. Bought it to move my camper around and for a winch when I am off road.

by: 2000 Ford F150 770006/09/2024
2000 FordF-150

My factory bolts were not long enough to reach through the tow hooks and the tow hitch mounting plate. I left the tow hooks off for now until I purchase longer bolts. Other wise it fits fine.

by: Brad11/07/2022

Overall, I was satisfied. Instructions could be more complete, and it was missing a few bolts and nuts. But Looks like a solid plow for the application I need.

1993 Chevrolet Suburban

The plow works very well. It's not real heavy duty but it has been adequate so far. It went together quite easily and is fairly light and maneuverable when I take it off for the summer. I am glad it has the extra turnbuckle braces beside the receiver to stiffen it up. I almost wish I had gotten a wider plow. When I have it set for straight forward it is good but when I have it angled it is a bit narrow for my Suburban. One minor problem I had was when I hit a hard object and the plow snapped forward and down both of the little red plastic end markers that stick up broke off. Long exposure must weaken the plastic.

by: Scott02/18/2022

Tha product is easy to install with the directions . This was my third truck to put a front hitch on and all worked well.

Scott J.

2/19/2023

Still working great. No problem. I had one on my other truck and the corners cracked. I got another one and sold the truck with it . I have actually purchased 3 front hitches over a 5 year period . All easy to install.

by: Scott02/09/2022

Well worth the money! No longer having to worry about someone else coming to plow is a God send!!!

by: Daniel08/19/2023

Good for the price, really needs to be able to be able to angle from the cab of the truck. (deluxe model.)

by: Scott O.01/20/2018

Great hitch, fast shipping, easy installation. On my truck I did have to notch a steel protective plate so the hitch would fit. Not a big deal. I'd definitely order from etrailer again!

Jeep Wrangler

I love having this plow easy to install, easy to attach and remove on my 2 door Jeep Wrangler. I would recommend it to everyone looking for a plow.

by: Mark01/20/2023

Installation was quick and easy per the directions. I did have to trim one skid plate but that was no problem and was done quickly.

by: Steve C.08/07/2019

The front hitch was everything I was expecting. The order process was easy and quick. The hitch showed up in just a few days and was ready for installation. It was obviously well made and solid. The instructions were straight forward and easy to follow. It took me (alone) about 45 minutes to install the hitch behind my pull hooks. And some of that time was spent trying to get the screws and bolts out of the old 2003 truck. I used a small floor jack to lift it up and wiggle into place. Worked very well. Even the bottom skirt fit back on nicely. Obviously on the front, this doesn't get a long haul evaluation. But it has been great around the yard with my short yard trailer. The front hitch does reduce your front end angle of climb some (it will dig in), but not real bad.

by: Steven 01/24/2022
2001 Ford Expedition

I think this hitch is top notch and the instalation kit made the install really easy like
I dont have any actual use data for this review. I purched a HF 12K winch i wanted to use occasionally on the front of my 2001 Expedition but the HF mount was such that the setup required an 8" extension to clear the Expedition big front bumper assembly. I deemed "that" array as too weak and wobbly to support the 80pound winch. I'm 100% sure the CURT receiver is more than adequate for the task, its the extension I have questions about.

2001 FordF-150

Perfect fit, fast service!

by: Tp Thomas01/18/2020

Difficult to put together - manufacturing quality is terrible - holes drilled off of center, causing plenty of work-arounds. In the end, it was a small plow with a complicated and messy assembly instruction. I resold it for $100 to get rid of the eye-sore. I don't recommend this at all.

by: Dewayne S.01/27/2014

This was the easiest purchase i have ever made. Customer service was top shelf. Product fit right in place no problem at all. Looks
just like photo on net. Installing was a breeze. Fit was perfect, also made in the usa, even better! This will make using my winch and other items very ez.

  • I spoke with all of the snowplow manufacturers we carry and none of them have ever heard of or had any issues with installing a snowplow on a 2017 Ram 1500 4x4. I would call the dealer to see if they say otherwise but I would not consider the statement to be true as all of the manufacturers state they have sold snowplows for this vehicle and have not heard back about the problem you described. For your Ram, I recommend using the Detail K2 Avalanche Snowplow part # K2AVAL8219 which installs

  • Installing Front Mount Receiver Hitch - Item # 31038 On A 2003 Ford F-150 - 4x4
  • I contacted the manufacturer and they confirmed that the receiver should fit. However, they stated that if your 2003 Ford F-150 is the old body style then it will not. Let me know if it is the old body style and we will look for other options if necessary. There should be an additional bolt hole on the frame which is where those 2 bolts go. You will also have to remove and modify the skid plate to have enough room for the receiver. Contact us if you have any other questions.

  • Difference Between Line Pull and Gross Trailer Capacity for Curt Front Hitch 31038
  • Front hitches have different weight capacity listings so both numbers are correct. The Curt Hitch part # 31038 does have a straight line pull rating of 9,000 lbs and a gross trailer capacity of 5,000 lbs. So if you have a rolling load on level ground pulled straight (no side-to-side angling) to the hitch it could be up to 9,000 lbs. If you needed to maneuver a trailer around with the front hitch it would have to weigh less than 5,000 lbs.

  • Ground Clearance for Curt Front Hitch for 2001 Ford F-150
  • When the Curt front hitch part # 31038 is installed on your 2001 Ford F-150 it's going to fit right up to the bottom of the front bumper so it would remove right at 2-1/2 inches of current ground clearance. I don't have an exact figure I can give you but if you measure your current ground clearance and subtract 2-1/2 inches you'd know. We actually used to carry the SnowSport HD plow you are interested in but at this time we do not have any aluminum plows. All we have are steel options
