I bought these new for less than the local brake materials shop quoted me to rebuild the old brakes. They have a nice coating that should resist rust for awhile. They seem to slow the trailer well. I would buy them again.
Very helpful staff. I did all 4 breaks and bearings complete. Glad I checked things out, seals were gone and one wheel had bearings that failed and I was lucky I made it home. Also put on new brake lines and master cylinder, all good now. Tnks

Purchase these units as part of my trailer overhaul. These bolt on in the original holes without a problem, very easy to install, added new kodiak brake lines and new drums, very pleased thus far with the product. like it's all one easy set up. I was going to buy new brakes and associate parts but after seeing these and the price I chose this route after than busting my knuckles trying to mess with springs and stuff. highly recommend
After the old backing plate was removed from my 20 year old boat trailer, the installation of the new backing plate and break assemble took less then one hour . The drum with the bearings installed slid right on .

The items arrived when they were supposed to and were exactly what they were supposed to be. Lisa was very professional and knowledgeable, and followed up through email. I needed the items fast, and even after priority shipping, the cost was less than i could have found elsewhere. I will use etrailer again should the need arise.

I am very pleased with the brake system. It is installed and functioning very well on a heavy duty equipment trailer which is often called upon to haul in excess of 10,000
Items were correct! Two boxes to ship the items. First box was damaged and required tape to keep the contents in tack. Second box was not damaged and contained two assembled backing plates. The right plate was missing parts (found in bottom of box) and the pin holding one of the shoes on was bent in two different directions. Had to straighten the pin in order to reassemble the plate and brakes.

Delivery was on time and correct application. Packing could be better as parts shifted and tore through box.
Had an issue with a bolt loose in 1 of the brakes but entire assembly was quickly replaced by etrailer and it turned into a great experience.
Great on phone help….. OK was very impressed that the 2 ladies I talked with on 2 different calls really knew their STUFF. Very impressed and ordered on Sat. del. on Wed. with tracking sent to me. Will be back when I break these in with new salt water.
Time will tell, have had issues with them right away. Not sure if it is something I did wrong or faulty components. Have a scheduled service to determine cause of issue.

I can understand that you would want the brakes to work right away. Can you tell me more about the issues that you had with them? Was the service company able to determine what was going on?

As far as I can tell, everything will work. The box holding the left & right backplates looked like it had been dropped. I checked the box and found that one of the plates springs had broken loose. My husband fixed it. Maybe they should put into bigger box.

Just one of the many satisfied customers with the company etrailer. I have used this on line site to refurbish my used boat trailers over the last 10 + years. During this pandemic I sort of let my trailer sit around and just wait until the end is near to react and make the trailer road worthy. After 3 years in out of salt water (mostly in) you might get this. After acquiring new brakes and drums from etrailer it’s back to the salt water again. Good quality parts and materials and/or coatings that will resist the salt water corrosion. Easy swap in for the old parts. I was replacing a set where one brake pad was cracked (the new ones are bonded instead of riveted) and one where the hydraulic cylinder had blown out and drenched everything in brake fluid. Well worth the cost and well worth the additional cost for corrosion resistance if you launch in salt water.

Easiest brake job I ever did! Complete assembly bolted to the trailer in the original position. No fussing around. Connected brake line, bled brakes and was rolling again. With free shipping, I couldn't go wrong.
I was initially concerned about finding the right parts as the trailer was fairly old. etrailer had just what I needed. The website is so elegant. I received some great advice and help from Leeza in selecting the correct product for my needs. The crew over etrailers work their butt off I ordered the wrong 12 inch backing plate with shoes it was already loaded on the truck they went out and pulled it from the truck and did not charge me and reordered and sent the right product it a ride fast

Bent pins on one assembly and had to be removed to straighten before installation. Seems to have been dropped some time during shipping or handling.

Dacromet-coated backing plates resist rust. Fit 14" to 15" wheels.I restored an old concrete buggy that I purchased surplus from a rental company. It was in pretty bad shape. I got it sand blasted. I painted it with Rustoleum. I installed new brake parts, master cylinder, and wheel bearing kits. Pretty big project but it came out great! Now I have a great little dual-axle dump trailer designed to carry a cubic yard of ready mix. Works great for short loads of concrete and for drain rock and landscape materials too.
I had to use JB Weld to get a good seal on the new plastic master cylinder cylinder-to-brake-hose connection, which was a pain because it leaked and required multiple attempts to fix. Plastic threads on the plastic master cylinder didn't seal with teflon tape. They are easy to over torque/strip! Maybe I did that initially, but JB Weld fixed the problem.

This review is for the Hydraulic Brake Kit - Uni-Servo - Free Backing - Dacromet - 10" - Left/Right Hand - 3,500 lbs - AKFBBRK-35-D. This worked perfectly on my 2008 Bear pontoon trailer with Axis branded 3,500 lb tandem axles and hydraulic surge brakes on one axle. It all went together smoothly without issue and after repacking the bearings and bleeding the system, the brakes now work again. A special thanks to Jameson for your time and recommendation on this kit, it was spot on!
The quality of the unit seems fine, however they manufacturer is so cheap that they do not include the 8 nuts to hold the brakes to the axle. They expect you to to use the old nuts, in a perfect world that would be fine. Assuming your old bolt bolts and nuts are the same thread! Spent another $12 on nuts which is it a big deal but the hardware store was closed so I had to wait till the next morning. Wont order again.

None of brands of brakes that we carry will come with the nuts or lock washers. We mention this on the product pages for the brakes. Some want to re-use what is on the trailer and some want to replace it. We do carry a replacement set as part # BRKH10B.
Nice. Perfect replacemen. For the price ace sends to just replace the whole loaded assembly vs pieces parts.
The brakes work great. The new assembly had studs for mounting to the trailer and the nuts and washers were not included, so I had to get my own. Your information for ordering should make that clear.

Fantastic way to repair brakes on trailer. Actually less cost than buying individual parts to complete the job. Both sides completed in under 2 hours. Will be sure to tell everyone i know that has trailers to used this site for all of their needs. This is the 2nd trailer we have done brakes on,

The boxes containing the brake kit was badly damaged due to transit. One of the springs popped off and the brake shoes were no longer aligned properly. Packaging was extremely poor. Hopefully there is no damage that I couldn’t see.

just installed brakes,install ok.just hoping to get more milage and time out of these brake .because in the past i have not,i have had cylinders lock up on me on both sides, mechanical issues sitting on the side of the road stinks.but i have also learned that these brakes are not install and go .they need to be adjusted thru out the year for better wear

The loaded marine grade backing plates made my job super easy. The fit was perfect and went smooth. I would like to see new nuts supplied with the studded backing plate. My order was processed fast and I received it quickly. Packaging was great.
Backing plates arrived on schedule. Installed just fine.
I installed these on my 1995 dual axle DHM trailer which carries my '95 closed bow Ski Nautique. The finish is stout and set up very easy. Had a bit of a challenge installing one nut on each side due to close tolerances between the backing plate and axle support but once on, the remaining three when on easily. Recommend doing this over trying to replace just the shoes.
Had to replace the old 20+ year old Attwood brake system. Both the brake assemblies and the coupler are working great.
My new brakes look and fit great. This made the replacement on my Heritage boat trailer very easy. The quality looks great and should last me a long time.

The product looked great and I got great service. I was unable to use the brakes, though because I needed 5 hole backing plate instead of the 4 hole backing plate. I never got around to seeking a return, my fault.

TWO NOTES: The brake line threads were not "well cut" on the right side wheel cylinder. To solved needed to "re-tap" the threads-- additional time required--
To make kit 'complete'--add 8 lock nuts to the package--will add about $0.80 to the kit and solve customers frustration of trying to find lock nuts with 5/8" across the flats. 11/16" across the flats will not work as too close to the welded axle on the mounting flange

Great buisness to deal with very prompt and helpful
etrailer has great products with fast and reliable service. I buy all my trailer supplies from them. I bought 2 hubs and drums for my boat trailer. I was going to give 4 stars because they did not include the 4 nut and bolts that hold the hub to axle with the product. (the old ones were so rusted they broke off), at the least they could offer for you to purchase them with hub. but I gave 3 stars because I went back to the reviews and others complained about the same thing. problem should have been fixed back then!!

Good product, fit very well and easy to adjust when installed ( lubricated the adjuster anyway) After a year of in and out of the salt water once a week for the season they look very good, a little rust, but not bad. Will see next year how they stand up.

Update: brake pad came off and locked up trailer wheel yesterday. Told only 1 year warrantee on workmanship issue. 2 years and now I need new brakes because they failed.

They are working like they should. I ran 800 miles in one day about a month ago, no worries on the trailer end. With the surge brake, just hit the truck brake a little harder and the trailer starts braking also.
