  • Trailer Connector Adapter w/ Lamp-Out Sensor Bypass Not Working on 2013 Porsche Cayenne
  • If your Cayenne was designed for the US market and you are still getting the errors when using the adapter # 20142 then you likely need more power draw beyond the resistors in the adapter. You can achieve this by installing load resistors such as # DI34ZR for a 2 pack. Wire one in line on the trailer side wiring on any affected circuits to create more draw so the vehicle thinks the LED lights are regular incandescent lights. If your 2013 Porsche Cayenne has a European configured 7-Way...

  • Troubleshooting Flashing Codes on Tekonsha Primus IQ When Installed on 2005 Porsche Cayenne
  • If you check out the attached cut out from the installation instructions for the Tekonsha Primus IQ Trailer Brake Controller # TK90160 you can see that there are a number of things that could be going on if you are getting codes that are flashing on your display. Typically with wiring troubleshooting the best places to start are your vehicle and trailer connectors as well as your grounds. Make sure everything is secure and clean to eliminate those parts as trouble spots. If you can let...

  • How to Bypass Vehicle Wiring and Run 12 Volts to the 7-way of 2013 Porsche Cayenne
  • A simple way to bypass the confusing wiring of your 2013 Porsche Cayenne would be to run a length of 10 gauge wire from the positive battery post of your vehicle through a 40 amp breaker like part # PK54540 and then back to the 12 volt accessory circuit of your 7-way. This will give you 12 volts of power without having to mess with the OEM wiring of your vehicle. I attached a review video and installation instructions for the # TK94FR for you to check out as well.

  • Troubleshooting Stop/Turn Signals Not Functioning on a 2005 Porsche Cayenne with LED Trailer Lights
  • First thing you want to do is test the 7-way on your 2005 Porsche Cayenne with a circuit tester like our part # PTW2993 to determine if the lighting functions are working correctly on the connector. See the attached picture to see what pin carries which circuit. You will want to have a buddy apply the different taillight functions of your Cayenne and then using the circuit tester check the appropriate pin for voltage. If this check out then you know the vehicle wiring is not the problem. Have...

  • Will the Prodigy RF Brake Controller Allow 12 Volt Circuit to Charge Trailer Battery
  • Yes, the 12 volt power circuit of the RF brake controller part # TK94FR does pass through to the trailer's wiring so you'd be able to still charge your trailer with the 7-way.

  • Reverse Electric Lockout Solenoid Not Working using 7 to 4-Way Adapter on 2006 Porsche Cayenne S
  • It is possible that the solenoid on the trailer is not drawing enough power for the factory trailer connector on your 2006 Porsche Cayenne S. But first, you will want to test the reverse circuit on the vehicle connector to make sure it is working. You will need to chock the wheels of the vehicle, apply the emergency brake, and have someone sit in the vehicle with their foot on the brake while they start the vehicle and place it in reverse. Then you will use a circuit tester such as #...

  • Tekonsha P3 Controller Stays On with Bulb-Out Sensor Adapter Installed
  • The same reason the part # C57003 prevents your P3 # 90195 from falling asleep would be the same reason the # 20142 would do the same. Both of these adapters have resistors installed on the circuits. The only solution I could make for you would be to remove the # C57003 from your vehicle when not in use. Also, the LED display of your brake controller puts such a miniscule amount of draw on your vehicle that it would take weeks before it would adversely affect your battery life.

  • Why Would Prodigy Brake Controller Show Voltage Display At all Times
  • That is a pretty interesting problem you are experiencing that has to be related to the stoplight circuit wire (red) that you used for the install. Use a circuit tester like # 3808 to test the wire you used for this wire to verify it's voltage. It should only see 12 volts when the brakes are applied, but it sounds like yours has voltage on this circuit at all times. You need to find a circuit that only sees voltage when brakes are applied.

  • Troubleshooting Vehicle and Trailer Wiring/Lighting Functions
  • The single most common cause for weird behavior from vehicle and trailer wiring/lights is a bad ground connection. A weak ground may allow normal operation for some functions but not for others. Check the main white ground wire for both the vehicle and trailer wiring harnesses; both must make solid contact to clean bare metal. Some sandpaper can help expose bare metal. Also, note that some vehicles will not react well to certain specific wiring testers. The best way to test both your vehicle...

  • Trailer Brake Lights Not Working when Connected to 2004 Porsche Cayenne S with Factory Tow Package
  • The first place I recommend checking is the trailer connector on your 2004 Porsche Cayenne without the adapter or trailer plugged in. Use a circuit tester such as # PTW2993 to test the pins in the 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock positions while someone sits in the vehicle and presses the brake pedal. If there is no power on those pins during this test then it could be a fuse or relay related to the tow package wiring. Your Cayenne has a fuse box under the hood and in the cab on each end of the...

  • No Left Turn or Left Brake on Rewired Trailer When Connected To 7-Way on 2013 Porsche Cayenne
  • You can test the 7-Way connectors on the Porsche Cayenne or Mercedes ML250 and the trailer with a circuit tester, part # PTW2993. I am including a link to a FAQ page on trailer wiring that will show you the functions of each pin on your connector, depending on if it is either a 4-Way, 5-Way, 6-Way, or 7-Way. This will help you determine if there is a problem with the wiring on the vehicle or the trailer. If you are using the Pollak 7 Round to 4 Flat Wiring Adapter, part # PK12742, you...
