If you take a look at the photo I edited for you, you can see how to wire the 7-way connector on the vehicle. Make sure to wire by function, not wire color.
Perhaps a better way of doing this would be to use an adapter like the # 37185. If you need to install a brake controller, you could use the ETBC7 install kit mentioned in the question you referred to.
