Make sure the band clamp of the # SS01 is totally loosened and slid back off of where it would need to slip over the nozzle of the # 278-2204. You can put some dish soap on the nozzle as well to help it slide into the hose which is a tight fit. Try that and see if that helps. view full answer...

You'd want to install the battery isolation solenoid part # PK5231201 on the vehicle side of the wiring so that you'd have access to a keyed circuit to allow the 12 volts only to be active when key is on. To do this on the trailer side of the wiring would require you to be a bit more creative.
