However, on any vehicle you should not attempt to open the trunk with the bike rack attached because it is not rated for the extra weight and it can also cause the trunk to fall on you. The difference between these is that the # SH97ZR is just the hitch, while the # SH38ZR includes their towing kit. I have a possible solution for you, but unfortunately there is not a trailer hitch fit for your 528xi from any of our manufacturers. Curt manufacturing only made a fit for the 2008 model year and had nothing before or following that model year for the 528xi.
