Expert Answers about Mini Cooper

  • Height of M7 Speed 327-60-160200 Trailer Hitch Installed on 2011 Mini Cooper
  • M7 didn't have that dimension available but they said that the top edge of the # 327-60-160200 receiver tube sits about a 1/2 inch below the rear license plate. This would place the underside of the receiver tube about 3 inches below the rear license plate, so you could measure the distance from the bottom of the license plate to the ground, and subtract 3 inches from that distance to arrive at an approximate above ground height.

  • Recommended Wiring Harness for a 2015 Mini Cooper
  • I have a couple of options for you but I checked with Hopkins and there are no custom wiring kits for the 2015 Mini Cooper. Instead you will want to use the Tekonsha Upgraded Heavy Duty ModuLite Circuit Protected Vehicle Wiring Harness item # 119190KIT. This harness will provide you with a 4-flat connector and will need to be spliced into your Mini's tail light wiring. If you are not interested in splicing into your Mini's wires then I recommend the ZCI Circuit Protected Vehicle Wiring...

  • Why Are Class I Hitch Adapters Not Recommended for 2012 Mini Cooper Hardtop
  • Curt's Trailer Hitch Receiver # C11272 for the 2012 - 2013 Mini Cooper Hardtop with single exhaust is a light-duty Class I hitch that really should not be used with any sort of hitch adapter. The reason is that on any hitch on any vehicle hitch extensions like # HTAD, # HT5R and # HES6 move the actual load far enough away from the hitch tube to increase the leverage and stress on it. These adapters also tend to allow for more random motion of whatever is mounted in them and this again...

  • Dual Receiver Adapter Needed to Flat Tow 2012 Mini Cooper and Haul Bike Rack
  • The Curt Dual Hitch Extender for 2" Trailer Hitches # D-192 would be a great option, but unfortunately using any kind of extension piece like this causes it to cut the overall weight ratings of your trailer hitch in half. This means that your 1998 Winnebago Adventurer will only be able to handle 2,500 lbs towing and 175 lbs tongue. Instead of using an extension piece, I recommend going with the Gen-Y # 325-GH-314. This has a bit of a different design and gives you multiple hitch receiver...

  • Hitch Reducer and Hitch Extender Effects on Hitch Capacity
  • For your 2005 Mini Cooper convertible only a light-duty 1-1/4-inch Class I hitch is offered, the Curt model # C11126, which fits the non-S-Series convertible version. But if the trailer you want to tow has a 2-inch coupler, this just means that it requires a 2-inch hitch ball like # A-82 which will work in ball mount # C45521. This is the recommend ball mount for the Curt Class I hitch. You do not need any sort of adapter to use a 2-inch hitch ball on your Mini. In cases when a hitch...
