Hey Geoff, a weight distribution hitch will effectively reduce the amount of tongue weight on your hitch. Spring bars will instead help to distribute that weight more evenly between the rear axle of the vehicle and the trailers axle. Yes, anytime you use a hitch extender or reducer like # HR26 you will lose about 1/3 of your hitches overall capacity. However, since you'll be towing a trailer that weighs between 4,500 to 5,000 lbs, the Brophy Hitch Reducer # HR26 will still work fine because it has a 5,000 lb max capacity.

Your trailer hitch should have a sticker on it listing the capacities of the hitch but you can get a pretty good guess at what the capacities are based on the size of the trailer hitch receiver tube opening. I've attached a chart below that lists the opening sizes and their weight capacities. You'll also need to check your owner's manual to determine the vehicle's towing capacity. The vehicle could have a lower capacity than the hitch does.

For your 2022 Subaru Outback Onyx, the trailer hitch receiver that offers the most ground clearance is the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # C67JR. To verify if it's any better than your OEM hitch, you can measure from the inside top of the receiver opening, to the ground. With the Kia EV9 being so new there hasn't been enough people getting a trailer hitch for it yet so we unfortunately don't have any pictures or would have a specific measurement for ground clearance. That being said, I measured from the center of one of the mounting holes down to the bottom of the receiver tube on the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C36RV and found it to be approximately 11". Hello Edwin. The Curt Class 1 Hitch # C11258 for the 2015 Chevy Sonic is rated for towing up to 2,000 lbs. Based on what I can see online a SeaDoo RXP 300 weighs about 780 lbs. I imagine the corresponding trailer is fairly light as well. That is something I have never heard of. I recommend looking around for a part number or sticker on that hitch before you tow with it to verify what it's capacity is.
