If you are not getting any power on the output side of the brake controller even if the controller itself is getting power there is a test you can do to determine if the controller is bad. You will first need to sever the blue wire a few inches from the back of the controller. Next you will need to use a circuit tester, like # PTW2979 if needed, to test the end coming out of the controller. The wire should only show power when you apply the manual override.

The fact that the power steps on your Newmar Kountry Star seem to operate fine when bypassing the control module does point to the controller being the issue. The other possibility is that the door switch on your trailer is bad, which you can also rule out by testing it with your circuit tester.

We should start with the connector on the trailer. If it is wired as you have stated, looking at the wires inside the trailer end connector, left turn and right turn switched, power and ground wires switched and trailer brake and running light circuit switched, then this could very well be the whole problem as the connector is not wired or grounded properly.
