First off, congratulations on your new vehicle!
Now, to answer your questions:
One of the great features of this controller is that it will automatically adjust your trailer's braking based on deceleration of your Ascent. Once installed, you do not need to adjust the settings on the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller # 90195 as long as you leave it plugged in. If you unplug the controller, you'll need to go through the initial set-up once again because it assumes the controller... view full answer...
If your 2020 Subaru Ascent has the factory tow package with the factory installed 7-way trailer connector, it will have the factory brake controller connector located above the driver's side kick panel forward of the hood latch as shown in the provided photo. The wiring harness is part # 3062-P.
If your Ascent does NOT have the factory 7-way, you'll need to install a # 118790 wiring harness to provide one. You'd then use the # ETBC7 brake controller wiring kit to install controller. view full answer...
The location to plug the Tekonsha Plug-In Wiring Adapter part # 3062-P is just above the driver's side kick panel just behind the hood release latch mounting block. It will be wrapped in black (most often) tape to keep it clean and free of debris. It will be taped up to another main harness and this is likely causing your issue. Please see the attached photo for the exact location. view full answer...
You are right to be concerned with the integrity of the vehicle's frame when it comes to towing and tongue weight capacities. The towing and tongue weight capacities of a hitch are just what that specific hitch is rated for and does not transfer over to what the vehicle can handle. Subaru lists two different Gross Towing Weight (GTW) and Tongue Weight (TW) capacities based on the model of the Ascent.
Models with air-cooled continuously variable transmission fluid cooler*1: 5,000lbs (2,268... view full answer...
To install the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Trailer Brake Controller - 1 to 3 Axles - Proportional # RED44FR on your 2022 Subaru Ascent with factory tow package, you will also need the Tekonsha Plug-In Wiring Adapter for Electric Brake Controllers - Dual Plug In # 3062-P.
The # 3062-P is a plug-and-play wiring adapter and will plug into brake controller port underneath your dash. Then you will just need to mount the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite to complete the installation.
I have included the installation... view full answer...
The connector you are looking for to install the Curt trailer wiring kit part # C56040 on your 2019 Subaru Ascent is located behind the driver side rear panel in the cargo area. If you check out the picture I attached you'll see where to find it. view full answer...
As the Coil SumoSprings # CSS-1094R will fit in between the slats of the coil spring on your 2020 Subaru Ascent, it will not lift the rear up at all. However, they will definitely help if the back of your vehicle is sagging as they will supplement your factory springs and give them a little support when needed. view full answer...
If all of your signals are working there may be no need to connect the wire that is for the 12 Volt trailer power on the Tekonsha OEM Replacement Vehicle Wiring Harness with 7-Way Trailer Connector part # 118290 but I can not advise you to do anything except what is found in their instructions which states to connect the wire. In some cases not only does this wire power the 12 volt connector but may also be used to power the converter taking the excess strain off of your vehicles wiring harness. view full answer...
The brake controller that I recommend for your 2022 Subaru Ascent is the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Trailer Brake Controller - 1 to 3 Axles - Proportional # RED44FR. I recommend the Tow-Pro Elite because it eliminates the bulky brake controller under your dash and has just a knob that mounts on your dash or console.
If you don't have a 7-way plug, the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller - 7-Way RV and 4-Way Flat - 10 Gauge Wires # ETBC7 will be the part you need to connect... view full answer...
According to the instructions for the Tekonsha Plug-In Wiring Adapter # 3062-P for your Prodigy P3 # 90195 the plug should be located up under your driver's side dash by the left side kick panel (see attached photo).
The wring adapter doesn't come with a fuse as it has a ground wire and the OEM factory tow package wiring should be protected. If you didn't have factory tow package wiring then you need to hardwire the P3 in and you would use a 30A circuit breaker from the battery to the... view full answer...
The best size for a cargo box for a vehicle normally is the biggest size that allows the rear hatch to open with the box installed. So to determine which size(s) would allow the rear hatch of your 2020 Subaru Ascent to open you'd need to measure from the center of the front bar back to the rear hatch seam on the vehicle. If the measurement is 55 inches or over the 22 cubic foot Thule Motion XT part # TH629906 would fit whereas the # TH629806 only requires 51-1/4 inches.

To install the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite brake controller, part # RED44FR, in your 2019 Subaru Ascent you need to find the white connector with the standard red, white, blue, black wires coming out of it behind a kick panel to the left of the driver. The picture I attached shows the location.
Use part # 3062-P to plug into that white connector to install and use the Redarc controller. view full answer...
Yes, if you add the Rhino-Rack Vortex Aero Crossbars # RRVA137B-2 to your 2021 Subaru Ascent's raised factory rails, you will still be able to operate your sunroof. I went ahead and attached a video of the crossbars installed on a 2019 Subaru Forester that has similar raised rails as your vehicle.
In order to complete the crossbars system, you will also need the Rhino-Rack SX Series Legs for Vortex Aero Crossbars - Raised Factory Side Rails # RRSX100. These legs will give you attachment... view full answer...
The Redarc Tow Pro Elite part # RED63RR will install very easily on your 2023 Subaru Ascent with the factory tow package using the install harness part # 3062-P which plugs into a port under the dash of your vehicle. It's very easy to do for sure. view full answer...
I have not had this issue pop up before and the Curt Echo # C51180 controller does require input for it to signal the brakes on the trailer to actuate. There will be absolutely no way for this to self actuate on its own.
With the accelerometer being set from Curt, there will not be a way to change how it activates, unfortunately. If this is a negative for you, I do recommend going with a hardwired option, which I actually prefer anyway.
With that being said, I highly recommend the Redarc... view full answer...
Due to the thinner gauge wiring of the # 118290 for the 12 volt accessory circuit you'd be limited to the 20 amp charger for your battery. view full answer...
There are two different 7-way trailer wiring harnesses for a 2019 Subaru Ascent dependent on whether or not you have the factory tow package. If you do have the factory tow package then you should be using the Tekonsha OEM Replacement Vehicle Wiring Harness part # 118290, not the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller part # ETBC7. If you found a plug under the dash for the Tekonsha Plug-In Wiring Adapter for Electric Brake Controllers part # 3062-P then you have the factory... view full answer...
Yes, whoever it is that told you about the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Trailer Brake Controller, # RED44FR has definitely made a great recommendation to you, absolutely this will work in your 2022 Subaru Ascent. The installation process depends if your Ascent is equipped with the factory tow package.
If your Ascent has the factory tow package you will be able to use the Tekonsha Plug-In Wiring Adapter for Electric Brake Controllers, # 3062-P. This plugs into the factory trailer brake controller... view full answer...
