I've only dealt with the Thule Gateway Pro # TH88VR and I've not used the Thule Outway # TH45JV before. Realistically there is only one cargo carrier we can recommend for your 2012 Lexus RX 450h to give you the ability to fully open the rear door of your vehicle with the carrier installed. Both the Draw-Tite # 36336 and the Curt # C12339 will essentially have the same ground clearance. When we installed the Curt option on a 2005 Toyota Camry we found the distance from the ground to the top of the inside of the receiver opening to measure 11-1/2". When we installed the Draw-Tite option on a 2006 Camry we found that same measurement to be 11-3/4".
