The ball bearing is used as a failsafe for the propane hose. If the flow is normal the ball will stay suspended. If the flow drops the ball will be forced against the opening in the fitting and shut off the gas. With yours falling out the hose is definitely in need of replacement. Unfortunately for a 2005 Toyota Camry there are only 1-1/4" trailer hitch receivers available. Fortunately there are hitch adapters available to go from 1-1/4" to 2" in order for you to haul your bike(s).
