This alarmed disc brake lock will deter most thieves looking to make a quick snag. We were all a little jumpy while getting to know this product because the alarm is, well, alarming! The sound in our review video doesn't do the Scream'n Demon alarm justice, but at 110 decibels, it's about the equivalent of standing 3' away from a sounding car horn. It's loud enough that we wore earplugs while working with it!

Choosing the Right Disc Lock for Your Motorcycle

Start by taking a look at your disc brake. Does it have slots or holes in it, or is it solid?

Vented disc with lock pin through slot

If it has slots or holes, then you have a vented disc. Measure from the edge of the rotor to the edge of one of the slots. Then measure the slot. You'll need a lock with a locking pin small enough to fit through the slot and a throat long enough to clear the section of your rotor you measured.

Solid disc with lock pin clearing rotor

If your rotor is solid, measure the overall width. The lock you buy will need to to have a throat long enough that the entire thing can fit around your rotor with the locking pin securing inside the disc instead of through a slot.

Setting and Deactivating the Scream'n Demon Alarm

The alarm will set when you push the button to lock down your rotor. You'll hear a single beep that lets you know it's armed. If the lock gets touched, bumped, or tampered with, it will issue 3 warning beeps. If it's tampered with again, the siren will sound. If you're not around to deactivate the alarm, it will reset and go into a state of waiting after 15 seconds as long as it's left alone.

The push-button lock does not require the key to be inserted to lock it, but unlocking it is the only way to turn the alarm off once it's been activated, so keep the key close. If the batteries go dead, the lock will still function. And if you want to use the lock without the alarm, just pop the batteries out before installing it.

Installation and Removal

Installing this lock on your bike is quick and easy.

Attach the reminder cable

1. Slip the reminder cable into the channel of the lock.

Install the Screamin' Demon Alarm

2. Slide the lock over your bike's brake disc and press the button down to lock the unit. If you have a vented disc and the slots are smaller than the lock pin, you can set the pin through one of the slots. Otherwise, you'll have to make sure the locking pin clears your disc to lock.

Loop reminder cable around your handlebar

3. Loop the reminder cable around your handlebar. The bright orange cable lets potential thieves know your bike is protected, and it will serve as a good reminder to remove the lock before you ride. If you don't remove the lock before riding, you could potentially break your wheel, so don't forget to remove it!

Video Transcript for Trimax Alarmed Motorcycle Disc Brake Lock Review

If you own a motorcycle and you want a little bit more peace of mind whenever you leave your bike out, the Trimax Scream'n Demon Motorcycle Disc Lock is gonna be the ultimate way to lock up your bike. We have a couple different ones that go over the disc, but this one, I think, is the best option. So the way it works is we're gonna have a little cable here, and this is just for you so you don't forget that it's on, because if you do try to drive away with this, it will do a lot of damage. So we're gonna put this on here, like this. We're gonna go in and notice how I don't have hardly any room, but there's enough space. I'm gonna slide this in and rotate it around, our little disc on our brakes.

Just like that. And you don't even need your keys to lock it in. You just press it. You'll hear one little beep. And the way this works is the second it feels a little bit of vibrations, It'll beep a couple times.

But if someone goes back at it, it's going to be very loud. That actually kind of hurts my ears. You are gonna need to have the keys with you to unlock it, and then the alarm will stop. But it is very, very sensitive whenever we start to move it around. So if someone's trying to really get into it, it's gonna go off really, really quick, but just notice the design of it.

It's made of stainless steel. It has a chrome plating all around it, so it's not gonna really rust away. And the crazy thing about this is I really don't know how I would go about trying to break into this. There's not gonna be any room for me to go in the little gap over there, and I can't really fit any tool in there. So I think this is gonna be a really good way to do it.

The only way someone could maybe do it is picking the lock. But I highly doubt because look at these keys, they're very, very unique. It's gonna be very hard to pick that. And even if someone wanted to drill into this, I don't see this coming off. I've messed with a lot of different locks for a lot of different types of machines. Bike locks, cable locks, stuff like that. All of that is pretty much a theft deterrent. I could pretty much get through a lot of those, but genuinely I don't know how I would really break into this, so this thing is 100% solid, in my opinion. Between the overall construction of it and the sound that it makes, I think this is a five star product. That all being said you need to keep track of these keys. You get two of them, so put one in the safe or something, and then put the other one with your motorcycle keys, because they are 100% unique to each other and they're not gonna be replaceable. It comes in a little case. It's not gonna have I don't think enough room to fit the little cable, but it does come with a case. It is gonna be weather resistant. So you don't have to put it in a storage compartment on your bike if you don't have one, but it does have this little piece right here. So what we could do since it can withstand all the different elements, you could wrap it around if you really needed to right here just so you don't forget. It can go on just like that if you really want it to, but it's so small, that we can fit all of it in our little tiny compartment right here. My phone can't even fit in this compartment. So now I have a useful one. This does not have to go on the back wheel. It can go on the front wheel as well. When it comes to disc locks, this is a moped. A lot of you are wondering if it's gonna work with a moped. I think it will. Worked with ours, and you're gonna have a lot more room on the front right here and both are gonna do the same exact thing. It's gonna lock it in to where when it starts to rotate going forward it's gonna hit the caliper, and it's not gonna go anywhere. So it will work with mopeds. If you have a smaller moped, unlike this one, and you don't have a whole lot of room to work with, we do have another one that's gonna be a little bit smaller, and it will work with the littler mopeds that you may have. Since this is a alarmed disc lock for your motorcycle, we are gonna need some batteries. So notice the couple different Allens right here. We are gonna get a tool with our kit and we will get some replacement ones as well. So you're gonna have two sets of them. These are gonna be an AG13 button batteries but then if you notice on there, if you're trying to search for some more, LR44 is something you can also get, but these are button batteries and this is what they look like. I finally found the lock that I know I can't really get into. So this is the best thing on our site to lock up your motorcycle or your moped, and I highly recommend it. Again, this is the Trimax Scream'n Demon Motorcycle and Goped Disc Lock..
