UWS crossover truck tool boxes are the tried-and-true American way of keeping your tools organized, on-hand and fully secure no matter where you and your truck roam. Each UWS tool box is built, right here in the USA, from extra-thick aluminum welded into a single-piece tub. This provides the tool box with reliable strength and helps keep the interior sealed off from the elements. Aluminum construction also makes the box highly resistant to corrosion for long-lasting use. To add even more strength to the crossover truck tool box, the lid features a patented rigid foam core. Layered between two sheets of aluminum, this core greatly increases the structural integrity of the lid to prevent bending and warping and to ensure smooth opening and closing. The lid is able to open to a full 90 degrees, providing better access to tools, equipment and other stored items. It also features self-opening struts to make it easy to open the box when your hands are full. This particular truck tool box features a low profile, meaning the lid is built lower than our standard lid. This provides a better view out the rear cab window and additional clearance for other items in the truck bed, if needed. To keep out moisture, dirt and even insects, the lid is also fitted with a MicroSeal gasket that seals off the inside of the tool box from the outside elements. UWS crossover truck tool boxes make it easy to keep your tools and other items organized, featuring built-in screwdriver holders and a three-compartment sliding tool tray. Like all UWS products, each crossover truck tool box is proudly made right here in the USA for style and long-lasting dependability.

Video Transcript for UWS Truck Bed Toolbox with Pull Handles Review

What is up, everybody Adam, here with etrailer today- We're gonna be taking a look at the UWS truck bed toolbox. We do have some options when it comes to this specific toolbox. One, we're gonna have two different size options. We're gonna have the 8.6 and the 8.4 cubic foot version. But we're also gonna have color options. So you can get aluminum like this, but you can also get a glossy black powder coated finish or a matte black.

So whatever style you're going for on your truck, we're gonna have options for you. What sets us apart from some of the other options you have on our website is this one's gonna be a little bit more low profile. It's only gonna sit up about three inches from the rails. And this is gonna be great for not blocking any view from the back. It's really only gonna sit up about an inch, right here, which our seats are in the way.

So we're not gonna see the toolbox and it's not gonna hinder our view either. We have a decent amount of room on the inside. So just to give you an idea, from this side all the way over there, the overall length is gonna be about 62 inches. From the inside lip, it's gonna be about 17 inches. And then from the floor, all the way to our ridge right here, it's gonna be about 13 inches.

So let's see, I grabbed almost every single tool from my garage. I'm curious to see if it'll fit. So one, I have a lot of the bag that's kind of set up for your basic mechanical type jobs. And then we got more of the house type jobs right there. And then of course, I just have my big toolbox, which pretty much comes with me wherever.

It is gonna be a little bit too tall for this to slide. So let's go ahead and give you a measurement there. From the floor to the bottom of this pan here, that's just gonna allow us to slide it. It's gonna be about seven inches. So keep an eye, keep a close eye on whatever you're setting up. If you really want this to slide, we wanna make sure everything's gonna be lower than that. But this is almost all of my tools. I'm gonna grab more of my tools from my garage. I'm gonna see if I can actually fit my whole entire garage in the toolbox. All right, this is everything that I own when it comes to tools. So let's see if we could fit it in there. I did take the tray out just so I can get these in. Tray's probably not gonna be able to fit in here with me, with my Dremel; but I can at least take my spare batteries, a charger, maybe just leave the Dremel out, just so I can have the tray and put that back in here. So yeah, this is my whole garage in one toolbox. The cool thing about this, too, whatever you don't fit, like my Dremel, you still have some room underneath. So from the top of your rails to the bottom of this toolbox, it's gonna be about 12 1/2 inches. So there's still plenty of room. So if you wanted to haul some lumber or whatever, you're still gonna have plenty of room underneath. Which I liked that. The whole toolbox is gonna be made of aluminum, but the handles are gonna be made of stainless steel. When I see it's gonna be really easy to grab it and unlock it from the side. All you gotta do is just pull back like this and you're good to go. But whenever you're ready to go, we get two keys with the kit, which is awesome. You can lock them into place- And you're gonna have to break it to get in. And it probably won't even allow you to get in once you do break it. So that's always awesome. And as we open it up, you can kind of look at the mechanism. So they're really proud of the rod design. So one, they have this little guard here. So if you do have stuff and it starts to shift and hits right there, it's not gonna prevent- The latch from working, which is awesome; because a lot of the times you get these jams and such, just because these rods start to bend, but they protect it, which I really appreciate that. And the other thing with the lid, I like, one, it's a gas strut. So it opens up on its own. And it opens up slowly too. So it's not gonna hit your back of the cab or anything like that. And we do have a nice seal around the whole entire ledge. So it's gonna keep all that dust, moisture and everything out. So all your tools aren't gonna rust away on the inside here. I do really like the little holes that they give you. So all like the really most common used tools like screwdrivers and stuff, you can keep 'em all right there. Just so they're really easily accessible even from the side. And also with the sliding tray too, you can keep all the stuff that you know you're gonna need, all there and ready, so you can grab this from one side, and if you really wanna have the tray over here, you can do that. It's just really nice because you can put your bags in here, but you can also kind of prepare yourself for the stuff you're gonna use quite often. The tray is gonna be able to slide throughout the whole entire toolbox. But depending on your stuff, you don't know if you're gonna be able to slide it or not. But if you wanted to, and you wanted to load this thing up, it's about, I'd say 17 1/4 from the inside to inside. And then from the inside lengthwise, about 16 inches. So the divided into two different sections, you got a little 4 1/2 inch section on both sides, and then you're gonna have about a 7 1/2 inch section in the middle. So it was a fair amount of size to be able to put, maybe just cases of stuff. That doesn't really fit that well. But I do have some drill bits over here, which would work really well. This is the small stuff, if you wanted to put that in there. Or just loose hardware, you know, I mean, it's all gonna stay inside here. It's not gonna really fall out. So you can use this for your miscellaneous hardware. Another thing about the lid that I like, it opens up 90 degrees. So for some of the bigger bulkier items, kind of like my big toolbox here, I can grab it straight out, because if I had to do it on an angle, I have these slides, and they start to slide out like that. So that's really clutch. But also for some of the bigger items that you have, a lot of the times I bring like a big chain saw with me, just because you never know when that comes in handy. And was that it's pretty easy to be able to grab those bigger, bulkier stuff out with the lid. Another thing with the lid though, it is made of aluminum. So I know a lot of my friends at least, they like to stand on top of it. Maybe make a little bit of ruckus. It's gonna hold your weight. It's not really gonna bend in. I'm about a, I don't know, a buck 75, on a good day. But if you have multiple people on top of here or maybe use it as a seat, it eventually might start to kind of cave in. So there are some more beefier steel ones. They're not as light as this one. So this was pretty easy to put up in here. But that is one thing, if you we're to upgrade, you can get one that's made of a little bit thicker material, so you can completely rule out the whole, it might bend in, type thing. I just sit up here quite often. So that's something I wanted to at least just let you know. If you're hauling with a Gooseneck or a Fifth Wheel, with a Gooseneck what you can do is you can get a four inch offset and that is gonna prevent anything from hitting this. But honestly, with this being so low profile, it's probably your best shot, especially if you're a Fifth Wheel hauler type of person. Where we're not really gonna hit anything, just because it only sits up about three inches. So let's take your measurements, make sure that it's not gonna be an issue for you, but if you are Gooseneck, you're gonna get that offset. And you're good to go. It's gonna sit right on the outside of the truck bed rails. So it's a nice clean fit. And it's gonna take up about 19 inches, but 19 1/2 with the lid from the bulkhead. So if you wanted to use the toolbox addition Tonneau cover, we do have one. So you can have a Tonneau cover and your toolbox, if you wanted to, because it falls within those bounds, which I would get those. All in all, if you want your truck to be able to do more, a toolbox is gonna be super, super clutch. Also, it really adds to the look. I just like the looks of a toolbox on a truck, just because, I don't know, I just like it. I think it looks great. And it does look good on this truck, but with all the options that you have, with this one being low profile and all the different color options that you have, I think it's gonna be a great fit for you. It's gonna add a really cool look to your truck. And that'll do it for our look at the UWS truck bed toolbox..

After 2 weeks I finally got my toolbox this is good for a 2001 Ford ranger stepside it doesn't say it would fit but I measured it before I bought it had one little ding in the corner but I touched it up with spray paint overall it's an excellent toolbox and it fit perfectly this is originally for a Chevy S10 but I measured it and it fits good I would recommend this to anyone who owns a Ford ranger stepside! Check out the pictures you can see how well it fits! It is hard to find a toolbox that fits a Ford ranger stepside I used to work in the Marine Corps parts department in the motor pool so I know how to measure parts at first they said this wouldn't fit my truck but I told them I measured it!

My UWS Crossover tool box fit great. Only minutes to install. Looks great and needed on my 05 Ford Ranger single cab.

by:

great box much better than one from tractor supply and other places very solid construction you can feel the difference i like it

by:

I've had bed box for almost a year now. So far so good. The finish looks as good as the day I installed the box, which by the way was a snap to install. I'm very happy with this product and glad I didn't go for one of the less expensive products like a few of my buddies did. Most of them have constant problems with their bed boxes. IE: hinges freezing up latch problems and most of all the finishes that aren't holding up.

by:

I've had this tool box for about a year. Its held up well without issue. This replaced a 9 year old tool box from Lowes that cracked at the bed support. So far so good on this one. The locking and opening mechanism works great and is covered so things dont bind it up. The only strange thing is that after a windy snow storm there was snow inside the tool box and I hadn't driven anywhere.

by:

I was so happy to get this for my son. The only one i could find that would fit his ranger at the time. he uses it every day and it works great after one year. packaging , no scratches, and installed so easy that i went and bought me one. would recommend. sorry not much for technology or i would have added photos.

by:

When I purchased the toolbox I forgot to mention that I have a bed liner in my vehicle. Therefore I had to put a 3/4 inch spacer on the top bed rails so the bottom of the toolbox would clear the bed liner over the wheel wells and fuel tank spout. Other then that I really have enjoyed the toolbox and have gotten many compliments as well.

by:

Been happy with my purchase. I gave it 4/5 stars because it arrived with a dent on the lid that I was able to remove with a rubber mallet and a 2x4. The metal inside reflects poor workmanship. There are some sharp edges near the latch mechanism that I discovered firsthand after reaching in there. Aside from those issues it has functioned well and I find the dual lid release latches are convenient.

by:

Fast and friendly service.

by:

Awesome package, looks great, fits perfect. Delivery time excellent

by:

The truck box is a good looking truck box but that’s about all the good I can say about it. The striker for the latch continuously came loose causing the lid not to latch completely and the top to come open going down the road. I fixed this by putting loctite on the nuts holding the striker in place. The gaskets along the lid have completely turned loose and are no longer there. The keys never worked from the first day. Overall not very satisfied with the quality of the box for the price.

Here is a picture of the tool box I ordered, installed on my truck.

by:

Toolbox came as advertised. Perfect fit in truck bed. Sturdy and well built. Easy to install. Exactly what I was expecting

by:

I highly recommend etrailer for any trailer or truck parts. I have never worked with anyone that was as knowledgeable and helpful. The process was flawless. Further, after I made my order, they followed up and let me know several times how the order and shipment was progressing.

by:

Top of the line service and product. Very happy with entire transaction. One year later box still looks and performs like new. Thanks

by:

Box fit great. Installed in minutes with no drilling holes in truck. The black finish matched truck perfectly.I like the lid that raises automatic but stops before hitting the cab of the truck.

by:

by:

by:
