diagram of toolbox dimensions

The Fender Well Toolbox puts to use an area of the truck bed typically overlooked for potential storage and organization. The box mounts over the wheel well and uses the space up to the tailgate. The insulated, beveled, single lid opens to a full 90 degrees with the help of two super-duty lift cylinders, which raise the lid and hold it open as you load and unload your gear. The Fender Well box has a top compartment, separate from the lower section of the toolbox. Three commercial-grade, zinc-plated metal, sliding storage drawers with removable dividers are located inside the bottom portion of the box. The Fender Well Toolbox provides an excellent storage solution for fifth wheel applications.

Video Transcript for UWS Truck Bed Fender Well Toolbox with Drawers Review

What's up everybody. It's AJ with etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna be checking out these UWS Toolbox. That's gonna go over the fender well and the bed your truck. And you're gonna be able to have storage of tools up here up top. And then it has builtin drawers down at the bottom.

Let's check it out. Couple things to note would be that these are sold separately. So if you want both of them on the passenger and driver's side, you will have to buy them both separately. Other thing is there have options with colors. So there is a matte black one, much similar to our crossover toolbox back here.

So if that's more the color scheme you wanna go with your truck, you can get that as well. Now mentioning the crossover. They both work well with this to make sure that all your tools are secure and organized in the bed of your truck. Throwing the latch and looking inside. We're gonna have 3.9 cubic feet of space.

So what that means is gonna be 47 inches long. It's gonna be eight inches wide and it's gonna be 11 inches deep. Now, when it comes to mounting the tool boxes, they recommend you get your own hardware, and they want you to drill down here at the front with inch and a quarter holes and to anchor right up here. And then you'll also drill into the sides of the rail to attach it. So somewhere towards the back and then somewhere up here towards the front.

That way it holds up to the side of the rails in place. And then another suggested thing is getting a block of wood or some kind of shim to put in between the fender well and the toolbox to not only take up that space, and so you can drill into that instead of drilling through your fender well. That way you don't risk puncturing anything underneath. Looking down here at the drawer, it has its own lock. It's gonna be a different set of keys than it is for the top, so you have to have two different keys to unlock this. You have the T handle that you turn. Open it up and then you can bring the drawers out. You see they're all about close to the same length, they're just different depths on the insides. You can see there's not as much depth on these top two. And then the bottom one has more depth and even has dividers where you can slide those in. That way if you have smaller items like front connectors, screws, or bolts, you can give them all separated in their own little spot. Another thing to note, especially before you start drill holes is make sure you get the toolbox set in the right space. You want plenty of clearance to open this front part, so you can't have it too close to the tailgate 'cause we'll open that way, and you'll make sure there's space for the drawers too. So make sure you do a test bit of it, sit in there and make sure everything can open and nothing's in the way of closing this or opening that door. But the door open, you can see there is a weather seal around most of the door, but when you go to close it, you'll see it is kind of wide open here on the side. Looking at the top of the box, it's gonna be 48 inches from the front here to the back. It's gonna be 8 3/4 inches wide. And that goes here too. And then it's gonna be 24 1/2 inches tall. So open up here all the way down to the truck bed. The top lids gonna have a piano hinge that goes all the way across, so that's gonna help making it easier to open up that lid. And then also we have one here that's about in the center of the door at the bottom, another piano hinge there just for making easier opening too. Instead of , we do have a cord here on the inside, the mounted cord that's gonna keep the lid from completely going too far back. And then when you go to push it back, it goes right back there along the box. With the lid popped open, there's a few things to check out here, for one is the striker. So if you go to close the lid and over time it doesn't close as easy as it used to, you can actually adjust that, you just loosen these and it can slide from side to side. That way the striker hits here every time like it should and a nice latch. Another thing about the lid, you can see the foam weather seal all the way around, so that's gonna help keep the elements out. And the lid itself is foam injected, so that not only insulates the box, but helps the lid keeps it structure. So this is not hollow that's gonna dent really easy or crush in if you set something heavy on top of it. Closing the lid, I'm gonna show how it has a little bit of an overhang, so the box doesn't just close right there to where there's still kind of a gap, and that one's gonna get in, actually goes pretty far down and over. So that means it's gonna be harder for elements to go up and in. Overall, I think they're a great addition to the back of the truck, depending on your truck bed size, everyone's a little bit different. We got the eight foot bed right here today and this still leaves us some room in the middle to actually be able to use to load stuff, anything we wanna carry. But otherwise, the tools are all organized in the three different boxes and locked up and secure, so that nobody can mess with it when we're not around. So that's gonna be really helpful too. Well, I think that does it. Thanks for hanging out and hope this helped..
