Hi, Matt with etrailer, and today we're talking about the WeatherTech Custom Bed Mat in our 2023 Jeep Gladiator. Now, this is gonna be a great fit for you if you are looking for something that's gonna give you that custom fit but also give you more of a clean finish to the back of your bed. And if you are hauling any more heavy, bulky items that are more prone to scratching up your bed or even denting it, then this is gonna help alleviate it. So let's check it out. With this being a custom fit, it is gonna be able to really accommodate to the curvature or all the bends and divots to your vehicle. So if you look right here at this corner, you'll notice we're not really getting a great fit, and that's because this is straight out of the box.
We had this held down in place for a couple hours. We're still getting a little bit of curling, so that's gonna be due to it being straight out of the box and also it not being installed all the way. 'Cause we're gonna have this adhesive strip on the bottom, once you remove this paper, then it'll stick down, and then it'll use a hook and loop to attach to each other. The reason we're not fully installing it is because we're just doing this for demonstration purposes today just to give you an idea how this looks. And something you can do to help really form this to your vehicle and its contours is just to put some heavier items down in these spots where it's curling up in so it can really learn the shape of your vehicle.
Especially if you have this outside for a couple hot days, it'll learn the shape. But we can take a closer look at how it does contour to our vehicle. So I'm coming over to the other side, and it's really working around, and where we have these divots is even bending in that spot too. It's working underneath any anchor points we have as well. So you don't have to worry about it covering any of that up.
And what I really like is these high sidewalls too, because if you do have anything that does have a lot of spillage to it, it's gonna prevent that from seeping over and then getting underneath your mat. Well, contouring around our wheel well and even around this back anchor point right here, too. So you can tell this is very much designed to fit in our bed today. As for the material, it's gonna be made out of a UV-resistant thermoplastic. And that's something to really think about too, is you probably want this to be UV-resistant because it is gonna be sitting outside a whole lot of the time when you are using it, unless you have a tonneau cover that's covering the top of it.
But yeah, this is gonna be constantly being hit by the sun, so you're gonna want something that is resistant against that. And the thermoplastic does make this very durable. It's very strong, and it still does have some flex, not as much as some other options. But something you gotta keep in mind is if you do put something back here, and let's say this is already curled a little bit and it's applying pressure to this, then that could make this mat really learn that shape. So you don't want that to happen. So when you are loading this up with whatever gear you have, make sure that's fully flushed with your vehicle so you don't get any bends. And since this is gonna be outside a lot, cleaning it is gonna be another thing you gotta think about too. Already, we have a bunch of footprints in here, but cleaning it isn't too bad, honestly. Like, just like using my thumb, I can already wipe off some of this lighter stuff. Now, if you have anything that's a little bit more heavy-duty, you can just take this mat right out. It's absolutely not too bad because it's just being held in place with those hook and loops. And a couple things you could do is you could use some of the WeatherTech Mat Cleaner or you could just get a hose and some soapy water. Hose it off, let it dry for a bit, and then throw it back in here. In my opinion, I think that's gonna be a great option if you are looking for something that's gonna get a lot of coverage, especially with these high sidewalls; if you're hauling maybe some lighter-duty items; or just more worried about some spillage or anything getting underneath the mat, then I think this is gonna be really good for that. If you're constantly getting in the back of your truck, though, and kneeling down and you really don't need those high sidewalls, then I'd recommend the ACCESS Bed Mat. That's also gonna be another custom fit, but it's gonna be made out of 1/2-inch thick polyester fiber, so it's gonna be a little bit softer to work on as. It's not gonna be as rough on your knees or trying to move anything around. But the counterpoint is it's not gonna have those high sidewalls, and honestly, I'm a big fan of them 'cause they do two things. They prevent a lot of that water from seeping under, like I was talking about earlier, but also gives you this really nice custom fit. I think it makes the back of our vehicle look a lot more clean, and it looks more custom fit or OEM on our vehicle. But that's just a look at the WeatherTech Custom Bed Mat in our 2023 Jeep Gladiator. Thanks for watching.

The TechLiner is a great product. It fit perfectly and looks awesome. You do need to let it sit in the sun for a couple hours to flatten out. This liner does velcro to your truck bed and may be a hassle if you feel a need to remove it for cleaning very often.

I purchased the tailgate protector. The material is soft and pliable. Unfortunately,the plastic washers that come with it are too small and therefore soon after installation, the protector peeled away from the tailgate at the top where it uses the washers to keep it in place. I ended up using some larger diameter washers to keep it secure. It fits well, and now does a great job of protecting my tailgate.

We received this item in a damaged box that was taped up on one end and busted open on the other end with the mat dirty and warped hanging out of the box. I don't know who to blame the damage on but we are not happy with a damaged product. It is dirty and looks like it may have been used and placed back in the box. I'm expecting this problem to be corrected.

Up until about a week ago, the bed liner was working just fine, but then the adhesive holding several of the Velcro strips failed or wore out, and the liner caught air and pulled away from the rest of the Velcro and flew out of the bed. I had to pull over to retrieve it from the roadway. I've tried applying some more adhesive, but it still gets air under it, so I had to remove it completely.

Overall the bed liner was easy to install, the fact that it was designed to fit the bed of my specific truck and had a good fit and finish was important to me.
Another nice attribute is that the liner extends up the walls of the bed and does not simply end at the bottom of the bed. This helps keep snow and water and debris away from the bed itself.
The service I received from etrailer was above and beyond and exceeded my expectations.
Jena called me to update me on a change to my order, then followed up twice to let me know the item had shipped.

Could easily be made better. The material is great but they could improve the interface with the upper lip of the tailgate and include MORE hook and loop. Also, even though it's fairly obvious, they don't mention using the shoulder washers when screwing it down.

This product will not install on a tailgate that has a spray on bed liner applied. The mat will not fit under the supplied clips. I drilled out all the holes and just used the existing tailgate hardware to attach it. Poor design by WeatherTech. I recommend etrailer to not carry this product.

It’s very light duty and difficult to clip in. Clips get caught up on any cargo your sliding out .
It looks nice new but not very functional if you use your truck bed.

It was a perfect fit. I did need to lift the plastic end of the tail-gate, then drill holes for where the tabs go through, thus making the strip they send along unnecessary. I'm thrilled with the way it looks.

I pretty much trust everything Weather Tech, but this product missed the mark. It was EXTREMELY difficult to install. It uses a long plastic "C" clip along the upper edge of the tailgate to hold down the mat. You're suppose to install the clip and then slide the mat in from one end, even with lube it wouldn't slide in. I've been working on my own cars for 50 years. It took me quite a while to get the mat into the "C" clip. Then you have to move it back and forth some to line up the screw holes that are reused in the tailgate.

The product does what it's suppose to, protects tailgate from scratches and dings. Looks good and is durable overall. One thing that could be better is the trim/attachment strip at the top. It is a harder plastic that can be caught when sliding something out and gets chipped and broken. Overall the product works as intended.

It is a good product and does what it is supposed to - protect your tailgate. A couple of things that I noted, though, and they may or may not apply to you. The first is that it is impacted a lot by direct sunlight - meaning it expands and contracts a bit more than I would have expected.
The other is that I use trail seal for my tailgate for the times I am using a tonneau cover. This product doesn't lie quite flat at the bottom of the tailgate and would push the trail seal away. This is resolved by trimming the bottom inch of the mat.
