Rob: Hey everybody. It's Rob here at etrailer.com and today we're going to be taking a look at the Dee Zee custom fit truck bed mat on our 2020 Chevrolet Colorado. Now, a truck bed mat is going to do a few different things for you. You can see, we already have a spray-in liner inside the bed of our truck, and that's going to help protect the truck. But have you ever been inside of a bed that has a liner in it, or if you put gear back there, once that liner cures, it becomes extremely hard, it's very gritty and it's almost like sandpaper. So depending on what you put back there, it can potentially get damaged just from moving around.

And it really doesn't provide a whole lot of grip because it does become hard. And it's a little slippery. So things start sliding around, maybe get scratched. Well, that's where our mat is going to help out.Our mat's made it out of a heavy-duty Nyracord. It's like a rubber-like material so it's really going to have a really good grip on stuff.

I mean, even just running my hand across, I definitely have some resistance so it's not going to want to allow things to slide around. But at the same time it's made out of rubber and it's pretty thick. So it's going to give us a nice cushion. So if we do have some more sensitive materials that we put back here, we don't want sliding around, but we also don't want them to scratched, this is going to help protect that as well. Not to mention if you've got to crawl in the bed of your truck, believe me a little bit of rubber on your knees will definitely feel a lot better than running across that bed liner.Getting the mat in place is extremely easy.

It's just going to slide in, drop in, you just want to make sure it's oriented in the correct way so you have the front and the back on the right spot. An easy way to tell if you have the front is if on one side, you're going to notice there's really not a whole lot of a taper or an edge sticking out. But on the other side, you're going to have a very large tab on the corner. That corner, if we look at our truck bed, it's going to fit right in front of that wheel well. And then on the driver's side, there's not that much of a gap.

So we know that that's going to move towards the front. So we have it laying flat in our tailgate with the top up in our truck and we can just pull our map into the bed till we get it pretty close to lined up. I just like to move it out of the way while I climb back out and we can either push, pull or make any kind of little adjustments till our mat lays nice and flat in the bed.Now there may be a little bit of curling and buckling like you see, and that's pretty normal because they're rolled up in a tube when you first get it. And the way to fix that, best way I found, is honestly just let your truck go out in the sun for a little bit. The mat's going to relax and lay nice and flat against the bed of our truck. Now that the mat's all the way in, you can see how nicely it fits. It's going to follow all the contours, including the wheel wells and go all the way around the edge. So we have full protection for the floor board. You can also see how thick this mat is. It's actually 3/8 of an inch thick. Pretty thick, pretty heavy-duty so I would feel very comfortable riding around without anything in the bed, because I'm not going to have to worry about the wind coming underneath the mat, fluttering it, possibly picking it up. It's definitely heavy enough to have enough weight from itself to stay in the bed.And on the underside, you can see we have these little nibs or cleats, whatever you really want to call them, but they're going to do a really good job of grabbing onto the bed and prevent that math from shifting around. Because even giving it a quick tug, it really doesn't want to move a whole lot. It's pretty secure in there. And the fact that it is shaped to the floorboard of the bed, there's not a whole lot of room for it to move. Now, another benefit that a lot don't really think about is the mat's extremely easy to clean. We have, say, a lot of dirty gear, maybe we get a bed full of mulch we need to get. Well, once we're done, we can just take a hose and just spray it out just like if we're just spraying out our bed.It's extremely durable and it's not going to start breaking down. Even if it's one of those really hot days, it's not going to have any kind of adverse effects on our mat, or even in a really cold temperatures. It's not going to start cracking because it's cold. It's a really nice thing about the mat. It is extremely durable and it is going to hold up all those environmental things as well as automotive chemicals as well. But overall, I just liked the truck bed mat. I think having a rubber type bed mat in your truck is a nice thing. Because again, even if you have that spray-in bed liner, it can take a toll on your knees or the gear that you put back there. So now, this is kind of the best of both worlds; we have the protection for our gear, the protection for our truck, and we don't have to worry about gear shifting around on us.
