Specs:
The standard tread on these tires has solid, continuous ribs with very few sipes (or thin grooves) cut into the rubber. These tires are designed for use on trailers, so they don't require the level of traction that would be needed on a vehicle that is braking or steering.
Rambler radials have double polyester cords and double steel belts. A protective layer of nylon is wrapped around the steel belts to help prevent tread separation.
Radial ply tires are designed for trailers that are towed on the highway. The cords on a radial tire are positioned at a 90-degree angle to the direction of travel so that they lay across the width of the tire from wheel lip to wheel lip. This construction prevents the cords from rubbing against one another when the tire flexes, unlike the cords on a bias ply tire. As a result, radial tires have less rolling resistance and heat buildup, which leads to a longer tread life and improved steering at higher speeds.

Hello, everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at this Taskmaster Rambler 235/80R16 Radial Trailer Tire in a Load Range E. Now this is a radial ply tire, so it's great for highway use. It does use the double steel belts and the double polyester cords, which combine for a nice, long life. And they do use a nylon tread firming belt overlay around the tire, help prevent tread separation.
This tire is designed to fit 16 inch diameter wheels. The tire size, which will be stamped on the sidewall, right over here, you'll see ST for Special Trailer 235/80R16. R stands for the radial tire. It's a load range E, which means it's a 10 ply rated tire. Has a maximum load capacity of 3,520 pounds at 80 PSI.
And all the new trailer tires do come with a speed rating on them, and they stamp it on the sidewall. And where you'll find that, they do it with a letter designation. So right after the size we just went over, you'll see two numbers for the load index. And then there's a letter M. Speed rating M will mean 81 miles per hour.
Now this tire has a standard tread design on it. Has a solid continuous ribs, and there's very few sipes or cuts that are put into the tread blocks. The sipes are what help with bad weather by breaking up any water underneath the tire. But because these tires are designed for use on trailers, they really don't require the level of traction that's gonna be needed on a vehicle when you're breaking or steering. I mentioned it's an ST tire, which stands for Special Trailer.
Has the sturdy sidewall so they can handle heavy loads. It means it's created specifically for trailers, not intended for use on other vehicles. Does meet DOT, Department of Transportation, specifications and it does exceed federal motor vehicle safety standards. But that should do it for the review on this Taskmaster Rambler 235/80R16 Radial Trailer Tire in a Load Range E.
