Today we're going to be taking a look at the equalizer for 2-inch wide slipper springs. The unit's made from a really nice, sturdy, steel construction, with a black paint finish on it. This is designed to connect slipper springs on dual or triple axle trailers. You would attach one spring with a bolt. That'd be to this point here, directly through the eye of the spring. The hardware to get that spring attached to this portion of the equalizer is sold separately, and then the slipped, arched end of the other spring would mount to the equalizer over here, and it would rest on a keeper bolt.
That would engage in this hole here, keeper bolt sold separately as well, and then your equalizer is designed to be suspended from a center hanger, and center hangers are sold separately as well. If you need any of the components that I've mentioned that are sold separately, we offer all those here at etrailer.com. Now this equalizer is designed to transfer load and sudden impact from one axle to another. It's really going to help distribute weight evenly and it's going to result in a smooth ride for the trailer. It's got this rubber core, this bushing right here, this rubber core bushing. That's really going to help absorb some of the impact before it gets to the trailer frame and then the contents of the trailer as well, so that's a nice design of the unit.
This is designed for new style 8,000 pound to 9,000 pound Dexter axles. Again, it's going to fit a 2-inch wide slip release spring. The center bolt hole diameter is 1-inch. The side bolt hole diameter, for mounting the spring, that's this end, 5/8 of an inch in diameter. This hole right here, for the keeper bolt, that's 5/16 of an inch. A few other measurements that I want to go over with you real quick, we're going to take a look at the overall length of the unit, so measuring edge to edge.
That's going to give a measurement of 23 1/2 inches, and then the measurement that we have from the center of this hole to the center of this hole, that's 10 3/4 of an inch, and then center on center to the hole right here, that's also 10 3/4 of an inch. That's going to do it for today's look at the equalizer for 2-inch wide slipper springs.
