Video Transcript for A Closer Look at the Agri-Cover Outlander Soft Truck Topper

Hey, it's Trevor with etrailer. Today we're looking at our Outlander Series Soft Toppers. This can be able to fit a wide range of trucks, but make sure that you use our fit guide to find the right fit for you. Now the great thing about this soft topper is it's gonna be a much more affordable option compared to a hard top. It is also a little bit more customizable and if you wanna put something bigger in the bed of your truck, this folds forward and stores away against the cab. The fabric on this soft topper also is gonna be vinyl coated to keep it weather resistant, as well as it's gonna have a durable aluminum frame underneath to help with highway speeds.

Now speaking of those highway speeds, we did take this out on the road to see how it'd hold up and honestly it rode really well. I did not even notice it was back there. It didn't make any sound. This vinyl holds on really well. There was no flapping from it, even with pretty heavy winds today.

Now to get it into that full position, first thing we're gonna do is we're gonna take off both these panels on either side of the truck and all that you have to do is pull this hook and loop off, unzip it, and as you see we already have it most of the way off. Now we just have to unzip this piece here (zip whirs) and then take the hook and loop off the back. (Velcro crunches) So this rear panel does unzip off on the top, just like those two side panels do. But say you need to get to the back for something real quick, you can just reach into the corners here, pull out on both sides, then roll it up, grab your two hook straps, pull them, put 'em on their ties, and then you have access to your bed without taking that whole panel off. And say you just need to reach in here, grab something quick while you're camping, or if you just got done with a long bike ride, you just wanna hop back here and rest for a minute, let that breeze in there.

Now the rear is gonna be pressure fit, so this fit is gonna be pretty tight, but that's a good thing. So it just means it's gonna hold this rear hatch down a lot better. Plus you have the seal on your tailgate to keep it, any water from leaking through. So it's gonna hold that on there a lot better as well. And as I undo this other side, you can see how the hook and loop and the zipper are gonna help keep this water tight.

(Velcro crunches) And once you get that off there, (Velcro crunches) same thing for the top as well. (Velcro crunches) (zipper whirs) The soft topper is gonna be water resistant but it won't be waterproof. Lemme go ahead and grab the hose and show you what I mean by that. As you can see, it's not penetrating, it's just beating up on the surface of our cover here. There are little spots where water can get in but it's pretty unlikely to. And as you can see both here on the rear cab side and on the rear of the truck, you're gonna have that clear panel to allow you to see through the back windshield still, even with this unfolded. Like I said before, if you do have larger load that you're looking to carry, this does fold up if you don't want to take it off. And let me go ahead and show you how to do that. So the first thing you're gonna want to do, is loosen up this wing nut. Once you have that loosened up, you'll wanna pull this locking pin here to allow this support arm to pivot. Now this is on here pretty tight so when you do that, you want to kind of like rotate the support arm back and then you can click that back into place and strap it up here to hold it in when you're traveling. Now with that other side loose, we're gonna go ahead and get the plastic tabs on this fabric here slid out. So the easiest way to do that is just slide this back. You kinda have to work it back and forth a little bit, but once it gets far enough it'll just come off. Now, like I said, you're gonna slide this back and easy thing I like to do is kinda like pull on it a little bit outwards to try and get it to loose up 'cause it is a little finicky. It's on there pretty, pretty tight, so. Once you got that removed, go ahead, do that to the other side and then we'll be ready to fold it back. You're just gonna grab it by the top and slowly push it back. And I would also make sure that in between these support bars, you tuck the fabric down in so it doesn't catch and start to kind of make a mess on ya. Also kind of bind up to if you leave that fabric up so. Now once you have it fold up, I recommend you just take this panel here and you kind of tuck it down and then you're gonna go behind this rear support bar, grab this strap, pull it around this side and latch it down. Now towards the cab side you're gonna have another one of these hooks like you did on the tailgate side. Just reach up under there, grab that, slide that through that loop and then cinch it down. Now if you're like me (Trevor claps) and you we inchesre kind of concerned about how this would sound going down the road, let you here know that we actually took it down the highway here, right outside etrailer. And I'm gonna be surprised to tell you this, but I mean it was dead quiet. We could not hear this thing whatsoever while we we inchesre going down the road and it didn't seem to be moving at all whenever we we inchesre looking at it from inside. Now how it attaches is gonna be pretty easy to do. So for us today we had a track system and the hardware it comes with is gonna be for track systems or without track system. And if you don't have a track system, you'll have a clamp and you'll just go up underneath this bed rail, tying that bolt down and it'll secure it in place. Now with the track system, it will slide right into place with, through this opening here and you will want to have it as close to the cab and as close to the tailgate as you can. And if you do have any accessories in the track, since there is only one opening, I would recommend taking one of those off so you can actually slide these clamps into place first and then reinstall it later. Now we're talking about these soft toppers, we do carry another one made by Bestop and it is a good option. But I think this one is gonna be a little bit better of an option for you if you're looking at soft toppers, just because we have all this bed space that's not unobstructed, but when we have this folded up with the Bestop one, it's gonna fold down flush against the rails here and you're gonna lose a pretty significant amount of your bed when you do that. And also talking with some of our neighbors online, since I am from customer service and with some staff around etrailer, we've all come, kind of come to the conclusion that if you're looking to get a soft topper, this is gonna be the best option for you. Now if you're like me and you're not a huge fan of the prices of the hard toppers, I feel like this soft topper's gonna be a great option for you. Well, thank you for watching. My name's Trevor and I was lookin' at the Outlander Series Soft Toppers. (Trevor taps).
