Video Transcript for WeatherTech Rear Side Window Air Deflectors Installation - 2007 Chevrolet Silverado Classic

Speaker 1: Today on our 2007 Chevrolet Silverado Classic, we're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Weather Tech Side Window Air Deflectors, with dark tinting for the rear. Part number WT87184.Here's what our window deflectors look like, once we have them installed. They're gonna be a nice low profile design, and they're not gonna be sticking out real far, and they're just gonna give us that nice OEM style look. The deflectors themselves are going to be made out of a three millimeter acrylic construction, so we know that they're going to hold up for a long time. On the rear deflector, since our window doesn't roll up and down, it's not going to allow the fresh air in, but it is going to be a nice added feature and a nice look to go if you have some front ones. The rear deflectors do come in a quantity of two, so you're going to have a full set for the back of your truck. So now that we've seen what they look like, and gone over some of the features, let's show you how easy it is to get them installed.

To begin our installation, we're going to take our rear deflector, and we're going to dry fit it against the window. We're just going to hold it in place, kind of get it lined up, and get the idea of where it's going to sit. Now, what I would like to do just to make it a little bit easier on myself, is to kind of make a little mark on the window of where it's going to sit. And then we're going to take the included cleaning pad and clean that entire area on the window, because the rears are going to go on with some tape. We're going to make sure the area is nice and clean, so that it sticks. Now the kit's also going to come with a dry cloth, to dry off the cleaned area, to make sure that you don't have any residue left over, and that the tape will stick nice and good.

So now we can carefully take off the backing tape that's on our deflector. We're just going to peel that off. And then very carefully, we're going to place our deflector over the cleaned area, so it sits against the window nicely. We're going to push firmly once you get it lined up. You're going to make sure that you're pushing against the deflector for at least 30 seconds.

You're going to push and hold to make sure it sticks well.So now that we have this one in place, we'll go and repeat that on the other side. And that will finish up your look at the Weather Tech Side Window Air Deflectors for the rear, part number WT87184 on our 2007 Chevrolet Silverado Classic.

First bad experience with a WeatherTech product. Do not recommend for 2010-2014 Ford Expedition or similar models. I see 4 flaws.

3 of 4 pieces cracked at the corner even when I tried to be as gentle as possible in incrementally raising windows once installed. It seems to be just a few millimeters too oversized.

Second, Rear windows will not raise all the way back in place due to thickness of plastic, it stops. You have to push windshield up while holding the switch.
I was worried that this force would damage the window tint due to excess friction and it may push the rubber out to the point it would be damaged if I took them off months or years later.

Third, and arguably the most important. Too much wind noise. The Ford Expedition is very quiet for an SUV. I tried these for close to a week and I had to take them off. It sounded like gusty wind noise even when there was no wind other then the vehicle going through the air. I removed them and the SUV was quiet again.

Four, It isn't optically correct. Hard to see in the photo, but when looking at the area between the A pillar and side mirror, it's wavy and distracting. Also makes the A pillar appear much larger when it's darker outside due to the tint.

So even though they look nice, and you can crack your windows in the rain if your car is sitting still or you never exceed 50 mph... I wasn't able to get comfortable with the above issues. I can't return them since I installed them and tried them. But hopefully someone else can benefit from this.

It’s still early. I did the upgrade while in a walking boot (cannot drive) due to an Achilles rupture. So I can only comment on the install, which was much easier on the back windows. The front windows were a little awkward but eventually went in. I don’t like the ‘clunk’ as the window closes in the last inch or so. The window comes in contact with the deflector and clunks. I hope the plastic heats / cools and reforms as it sits over the next few days. Otherwise I like the look and finish, it’s just the fit which I’m not completely convinced off yet.

These weather tech side window rain guards are really well made. Front ones installed easily and allow us to crack open the windows even in the rain. I could not for the life of me install the rear ones, or I would have given them 5 stars.

by:

The front rain guards fit my 2023 Passport perfectly. The rears weren't setting correctly in the window seal and neither rear window would roll up completely. Also, when I remove the two rear rain guards, I noticed the thinnest part, which is supposed to go between the window seal and the glass had broken in use. I have no patience for this, so I threw the rears in the trash. In retrospect, I'd have have rated these a 5 if I'd only purchased the fronts.

I put these window deflectors on my 2018 Chevrolet Cruze LT. I love the look it gives on my car, and the option it gives me when it is raining to roll down my window. I would give this a 5-star rating and 100% recommendation

I didn't know how much I would love these rain guards until I finally bought and installed them. Install is easy. etrailer shipping quickly. It's been a year and they have held up to the sun and rain, and look brand new still. They work GREAT. Highly recommend!

by:

Very satisfied and pleased with my purchase experience from etrailer and the weather-tech side door window guards.
Glad I finally converted to weather tech. Installation was simple and no need of vht tapes.
Fitment is perfect, real clean low profile look , as if they belong there.
Highly recommend etrailer and the quality products they offer and professional experience . Top notch customer communication!
Looking forward to working with them for future purchases..

Helps keep the vehicle cooler in the heat. Easy installation.

by:

Love these, much better than the ones that stick to the outside of the door frame. They tuck in nice and sleek, are great for keeping the rain out. Put them on all my cars now.

by:

They wouldn’t stay on the front windows with the window rolled down, the drivers side blew off, so I removed the passenger side. The rears are snug 2018 lexus gx 460.

by:

Love the rain guards.

by:

Looks good and easy to install, just watch the installation videos.

by:

Easy installation, arrived fast and great price!

by:

What else would you expect from weathertech??? Proven quality!!

by:

paid the little extra to go with these well made and excellent fitting window vents as other "stick ons" just dont last. I bought from etrailer as they track shipping and assure delivery.

very pleased!

highly recommend WeathTech & etrailer

by:

Easy to install, though took a little gentle extra effort to "encourage" them into the window frames. It causes just a little wind noise, but that is expected, as it impedes the aerodynamics of the car.

by:

Don't look to close. I think that products coming from a company that prides itself on custom fit, the fit would be better. The reveal along the top is very uneven. Instructions say to roll window up very slowly, right, power windows. First time up, crack, :( . Luckily the cracked piece is small and hidden.

by:

Easy to install

by:

Good fit after a finnicky installation. The front guards do not use an adhesive to install, just pressure, so time will tell how they hold up, but initial impressions are good.

by:

My package arrived in ok condition! Way to much much room to be shaken and be destroyed. Luckily mine arrived ok. Some of the original packaging was dented and deformed do to over sized box! I got lucky!

by:

Easy install. Arrived within week of ordering. They work great on my class c motorhome.

by:

super easy installation. great fit.

by:

Unfortunately the rain Guards don't work properly on my vehicle, the minute they sense the rain Guards the window retracts in the open position, and I can't close my windows.
I will be looking to return these if I can't fix the issue ,or if possible return for a rain guard that has a self adhesive that sticks on the outside of the window trim.
Thanks S

  • Does WeatherTech Side Window Air Deflectors Allow Water into Truck
The purpose of the WeatherTech Side Window Air Deflectors # WT87184 is so that you could crack the window while it was raining to allow ventilation without letting the water into the truck cab. It actually sticks to the frame of the door around the window and not to the glass itself. If it was stuck to the glass it would move down with the window which would defeat the purpose. It may not be waterproof but when used as intended water would not get into the truck. I attached an install...
