Belt-driven puller fan does not have a clutch, so it spins at 100 percent of the water pump speed for better cooling at high rpm. Lightweight nylon blades reduce engine drag generate a cooling airflow in racing and performance applications.

Note: If your application requires spacers for installation, you must use Flex-a-lite spacers (sold separately) to preserve the warranty on the fan.
Because the nylon fan replaces your factory fan, it sits in roughly the same position behind the radiator as the old fan. You'll need to measure the area around your radiator and ensure that there is a minimum of 1" clearance between the fan and its nearest obstacles.
Also, be sure to take note of whether or not you require a fan with standard (clockwise) rotation or reverse (counterclockwise) rotation. You can test this by observing the direction the factory fan moves as your engine is running.
Maintaining a cool engine is critical to the proper functioning of your vehicle, and a quality radiator fan can dramatically improve your engine's cooling capabilities. Compared to a factory clutch fan, a nylon fan provides a low-cost alternative that can pull in a great amount of air in racing applications thanks to its lightweight design. The slim profile also helps cut down on overall vehicle weight - a must for any racing application.
This puller fan sits behind the vehicle's radiator (on the engine side) and drags incoming air across the vents. The positioning behind the heat exchanger does not impede airflow from the forward motion of the vehicle, allowing the fan to pull through already moving air. This airflow lowers the temperature of the coolant and helps prevent engine overheating.
Because the nylon fan mounts on the water pump pulley, the fan will spin as long as radiator coolant is circulating through the engine compartment and the engine belt is in motion (the water pump pulley is also driven by the motion of the engine belt). This results in constant airflow and cooling - even when you are idling or sitting in traffic. Mounting directly onto the water pump also eliminates the need for a clutch. A typical factory fan contains a clutch that engages the fan at a certain temperature. Removing the clutch, however, allows the nylon fan to spin at 100 percent of the water pump pulley speed. This means the nylon fan can provide cooling ability as fast as the coolant cycles through the various components under the hood.
Installing the nylon fan requires you to first remove the original factory fan and fan clutch (if applicable). Next, center the nylon fan over the hub of the engine belt pulley and thread the included cap screws and washers through the pilot holes. Evenly torque the screws to specifications before starting the engine. The fan comes with all the necessary hardware for installation. If needed, you can add Flex-a-lite spacers (sold separately) to bring the blades into the position within your radiator shroud that allows for maximum cooling.

Today we're going to be taking a look at a Flex-a-Lite 18-inch nylon engine cooling fan. The Flex-a-Lite nylon fan moves a lot of air and weighs only 11 ounces, so it's a nice, lightweight design. It's going to be ideal for race and performance applications when cost and weight are very important. This is a belt-driven fan. Now, keep in mind that belt fans must be used with a fan shroud. It's going to feature standard rotation. Fan diameter edge to edge is actually 18 3/8 of an inch, so it's in that 18-inch diameter category.
To be exact on the overall diameter it's 18 3/8 inches. The bolt pattern, you can see how some of these holes are elongated here. This will fit 1 3/4 to 2 1/2 inch bolt pattern applications. The project width or thickness is around two inches. That pilot hole diameter, center hole right here, that's 5/8 of an inch. As you can see it's a six blade design.
It's going to have an RPM rating of 8,000. It does come with some new hardware. The hardware that it comes with, it's going to come with four flat washers and four serrated washers. That's going to do it for today's look at the Flex-a-Lite 18-inch nylon engine cooling fan.

Going to be awhile before installed as it's not fun to do in the Wyoming winter. So let's say tentatively 5 stares
