Video Transcript for DeeZee NXc Running Boards Installation - 2017 Nissan Pathfinder

Speaker 1: Today on our 2017 Nissan Pathfinder, you're going to be taking a look at, I'm gonna show you how to install the DeeZee NXc running boards with custom installation kit, with a black powder coat finish, part number DZ16201-16253. These are also available in stainless steel and black and black with chrome. This is what our running boards look like when they're installed. I really, really like the way these look on this vehicle. Unlike some of the other boards that stick out pretty far, these don't. These fit really nice with the contour and the shape of the vehicle. They're not sticking out.

They're not an eyesore. They look really, really good on here. These running boards are going to make entering and exiting the vehicle much easier. They're going to be constructed of a rust proof aluminum with a black powder coat finish. It's going to be 71 and a half inches long by five inches wide and have a weight capacity of 350 pounds.

It's going to have rubber grommets on the top side of the step to provide you with excellent grip when entering and exiting the vehicle in those wet and icy conditions. The running boards with the low profile design is not going to take away from the shape or the look of the vehicle. As far as the installation goes on these, it is very simple, very straightforward. It's gonna come with all the necessary hardware. There's no special tools that are going to be needed, and they can both be put in within about an hour. Now that we've gone over some of the features of these great northern and running boards, let me show you just how easy they are to put in.To begin our installation, we need to determine the driver's side from our passenger side.

Driver side or our passenger side, the bracket is going to have a hole in it, and you're going to have that on the front and the rear bracket. You're going to have a nutsert tool, which is going to look like this, and I'll show you how to put that together here in a second. This is going to be your nutsert, you're going to have two of these for each side, and you're going to have two threaded plates like this for each side. A couple of tools you're gonna need. You're gonna need a six millimeter Allen wrench, 10 millimeter socket, 13 millimeter socket and wrench, socket wrench, and needle nose pliers. To start our installation, we're here on our passenger side.

You're going to see some rubber plugs that run across or along underneath the vehicle. Starting from the front wheel, we're gonna take the second one out. Take the needle nose pliers, grab right in the center. And we're gonna to take the fifth one out. One, two, three, four, five. Just like that.Next we're going to take our nutsert tool. We're going to put the nut on this Allen head bolt here. Take the flat washer that comes with the kit, put it on. You're going to have this little thing, looks like this, it's got little bearings on it. Go ahead and slide it on. Then another washer. Then you're going to take your nutsert, you're going to thread it on like this. We're going to take our nutsert and our Allen wrench. Where we took the plug out, right inside or toward the center of the vehicle, you're gonna see these hard lines. You're gonna see two holes. We're gonna go to this inside hole, which is closest to this bracket. We're going to take our nutsert and slide it up inside. Now it may not stay up there by itself. If it doesn't, you'll have to hold it, and we're going to take our 13 millimeter wrench and our Allen head and we're going to tighten that nut down. And what we're doing is the nutsert. We're actually smashing it so it stays in the hole. One thing we don't want to do is we don't want to tighten this too tight, because it will strip the threads on the inside. You'll know when it's tight when you have this threaded up in there, when you're turning this nut and it smashes everything up against here, up against the bottom of the vehicle, the nut will start to get tight. And if you pull everything out then, and just thread your bolt back in there and go like this, if this is not moving, you know it's tight enough. Now we'll take our front bracket, which is going to look like this. You're gonna insert the bolt that has a washer attached to it already into the front. This is gonna be the outside where our board attaches. This is going to be the center. This is going to be the bracket that's going to attach to the nutsert that we just put in. We're going to put our bolt through this front one. Now we're gonna put on the threaded plate, and we only want to thread this on a couple of threads to hold it on. We're going to take and we're gonna slide it up into the hole. Can be a little difficult if you have it on there too much. Turn it this way and see if we can get it on there. So just like that. And we're gonna take our Hex bolt, it looks like this. We're gonna thread it right into our nutsert that we put in, and we're just going to hand tighten this right now. Make sure we're not sitting on this bracket. And for our nut here, 10 millimeter socket, we're going to pull down. What that's going do, it's gonna pull that threaded plate down against the inside here and hold it tight while we thread the bolt up through it.We want to make sure that we do not over tighten these bolts. Use a regular wrench. When they feel like they're tight, leave them at that. They'll be tight, because you don't want to pull anything back through. If you pull it back through, then it's pretty much ruined at that time. Now we'll take our 13 millimeter socket and we'll tighten this one back here. Now we'll do the same thing for our back bracket, nutsert onto our tool, gonna feed up into the hole. Now this one will not hold up in there, so you're going to have to hold it while you tighten the nut.And for our rear bracket, it's gonna look like this. You're gonna have a long post on it like this. That's where our threaded plate is gonna go. We're gonna do it just the same we did the front one. Go right up inside of the hole like this. Then we'll take our Hex bolt, go into our nutsert. And then same process here. We're going to pull down and tighten our bolts. When you get enough, you're not going to have movement in it. We'll do our back one here. We're gonna have her board. We're just gonna set it into place like that for now. You're gonna have square head bolts that'll look like this. You'll notice there's holes in the bottom of our boards. We're going to slide the head up in. We'll just slide them right down. We're gonna lift up, gonna push them like this till they drop down through the hole. Then we'll have a flange nut for each one. We're not going to tight these all the way down just yet. Just gonna get them on.Now what I want to do, I want to make sure my board is centered on my vehicle. We want to measure from this edge of my wheel well to the edge of the board on the front and the back. Now I, personal preference, I'm going to push the board all the way in and as far as it'll go. You do have a little bit of movement in there so you can pull it out if you want to. I like the look of it being pushed in more. So then we'll take our socket. We'll go ahead and tighten them down. Once you have one side installed, we're going to repeat that process on the other side of the vehicle. That'll do it for our look at and installation of the DeeZee NXc Running Boards with custom installation kit on our 2017 Nissan Pathfinder.

These are great running boards for my 2017 Nissan Pathfinder. I really like how they stay kinda hidden until you open the door. Installation was very simple thanks to the etrailer.com instruction video. The paper instructions are worthless. They’ve been copied so many times that they are unreadable. Watch the video a couple of times and the install will make sense. One of the boards arrived with a couple of scratches to the powdercoat, but I was able to cover them up with a paint touch up pen. QC should’ve been a bit better from Dee Zee. Still, I feel these running boards are the best out there for my Pathfinder. They are strong and look great. I highly recommend these running boards.

Overall product seems good and has worked well after a few days. Installation instructions were difficult to read as they were actual black & white photographs which had been photocopied multiple times. Drawings like most other assembly instructions include would have been much better. On-line instructions are easier to see. Nutsert set tool is a piece of junk. No idea why an allen socket was used for the head instead of a hex head. Trying to compress the nutsert I stripped the tool. Dee Zee did send another tool, but that one stripped as well. Went to home improvement store and got proper bolt with hex head to finish installation. Be prepared to spend some time under your vehicle compressing the nutsert. Once you get those four in place the rest is typical installation and product works well. I recommend DeeZee provide better installation pictures and improve the nutsert tool. Guess I'm lucky I didn't have to drill anything?

Product works great and Im very happy. Boards almost disappear when doors are closed unlike what I see on other vehicles, but when door is opened provide ample space to step on. No issues since installation. Improving changing the nutsert set tool and installation instructions would receive 5 stars.

Running boards seem to be excellent material. Easy to put on. Mounting hardware is a bit tricky and pictures on instruction are almost not viewable. The wing bolts would be easier to tighten if a little longer. Took about 1.5 hours for install

by:

After looking over all running boards for a 2020 Dodge Durango GT, many stated that they fit all Durango's but not the GT. Asked the question of which would be recommended and this is what I ordered. Very high quality and fit perfect. Install was easy and took about a hour. Looks fantastic and are very sturdy. Highly recommend these to anyone.

by:

Installed on my 2021 Durango R/T. Fitment was perfect with a small adjustment to the installation instructions. The L brackets need to be installed on opposite side of frame lip to allow them to clear the spoiler. Only other concern is the threaded plates to hold the larger brackets. They don't look like they will hold properly over time so I'm looking for better bolts. Otherwise, they look great. Only took about an hour to install.

by:

Looks great on my Explorer, no problems with the installation done by myself without using a lift or jacks. I would buy these again

by:

Installation was fairly easy. A couple holes on my truck were difficult to hook into. There's no torque specs for the bracket bolts so I may have tightened too much because the front side broke free of the bolt heads on one end. After moving the rail over I re-tightened and haven't had any problems since. Looks good, easy to clean. Would recommend.

These boards worked! The stainless on top probably looks best on the Lincoln because that lower composite moulding is more grey, than black. (And really, once the board was held up to the car, the stainless kind of just disappeared.) Not to mention hard to keep clean. I think on the black car, the boards I ordered look the best. If I had a color like green, blue, white, etc...the solid black would look best. Mud flaps along with the boards would have been just too much. If it were a 1/2 ton pickup, would be great, but not for a crossover. That's just my opinion though! Wanted to share pictures, while not the greatest, in case anyone else struggled with what would look best & what to buy. Nice to have a variety of pictures & impossible for you to put every combo on every vehicle!

by:

Delivery was very fast. Instructions were pictures, with no text, so watching the video on etrailer is a big help. My vehicle is the "Overland" model, with the Trail rated package, which means it has "Skid Plates" underneath. In order to install these, I had to remove two Skid Plates, which anyone can do, but they are heavy. I had to use a Dremel Tool, to cut a notch in each plate so that I could install the Bracket. Spray Painted the plates, where they were cut. Where I had to cut the Skid Plate did not hurt their integrity at all. Then re-install the Skid Plates, and install the brackets. If you don't have skid plates, this is an easy install.

It took me 45 minutes to install Them. I was very easy. They look great on my chevy Traverse. I am very please with your service and the product. Thanks. Here is a picture of the final instalation.

Looking for foot rails for my wife 2018 Nissan Murano, Platinum. I had them installed by a local shop. I was nervous about ordering them because the car has molded mud flaps, but I was sent a pic of a car just like my wife with mud flaps and felt more comfortable ordering them.

by:

Product was exactly as described. Note - this fits the 2017 Durango GT perfectly!!!
Easy to install. Directions were hard to read, had to get print out from Dee Zee website. Parts bag opened in the box, but no parts were lost!

Easy install and look great!

Good quality running boards. I used the video that is on Etrailer.com web site to see how they are installed. Since I own a Equinox it was a no brainer. They look great and are super strong. Only time will tell on how long they stay looking like new. :)

by:

My wife was having a hard time getting into our Honda CRV on the passenger side so I decided to order running boards. I found some online from a different company that said that they would fit my vehicle but when they arrived they did not. I contacted the company and they said that they would send instructions so I could modify my vehicle to allow they to fit. I packed them up and sent them back!! Then I saw your video online and went to the website to check them out. I ordered them and as you can see from the picture they look great on our CRV! My wife loves using them to get into the vehicle now!!!

by:

Awesome product. The pictures in directions were grainy and hard to decipher but once we figured it out it was pretty simple install.

by:

The nerf bars have been on one year and still look great. There is no rust or pitting on them. I am pleased with the quality of bars and pleased with etrailer! Thank you!

by:

etrailer always great and fast service Thanks.

by:

These Running boards are worth the money; they are heavy duty and easy to install. I put then on my 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit. Awesome product!!

by:

Excellent product and easy installation. Very happy!

by:

It has been exactly a year since I bought and installed this on my 2017 Nissan Pathfinder. The running board is well made and solid. The chrome trim matches perfectly with the vehicle body side chrome moldings. No issue so far.

by:

nice product , good quality, brackets very beefy and thick gauge. Instructions are very difficult to follow. pictures are poor quality. brackets could be marked r,l,rear, front, but I will figure it out.

by:

Sturdy, well made and attractive on the car. The installation instructions are extremely helpful especially with photos. It took 2 people about 1 hour to do both sides. It's my wife's car and she loves them. TPA

by:

Online site gave detailed vehicle-product matching options and videos available for instillation. Good price. Quickly delivered. Able to install it myself with one helper in 2 hours. Looks great and a great help to my disabled wife remaining independence in getting in/out of her Traverse.
