Hello everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we'll take a look at the CARR LD custom fit, black powder coated, aluminum side step. This is for a quantity of one step and it is a custom fit part. It is designed to fit the 2007 to 2018 Jeep JK Wrangler and the Wrangler unlimited. Now this is a nice, rugged square edge step.
That'll let you get into and out of your vehicle with ease. This part will include everything shown here on the table. Comes with the one step, the two mounting brackets and all the mounting hardware you need with instructions. You can see this is a nice wide deep step and it does extend about two inches further from the truck than some of the other steps that are out there. It does use a nice, aggressive, diamond tread surface on it.
Provides nice, sure footing and the nice black finish compliments almost any application. It is a multi Mount installation provides a nice, simple and precise fit for your vehicle. The mounting heads right here that the bracket of the step goes into. These are mount or attached to your rocker panels. All the hardware is included.
Now there might be some drilling required. This is a nice dye cast, aluminum alloy construction which is rustproof. Has an XP3 black powder coat finish to resist chipping, peeling, and fading. And it has a nice slightly textured matte black appearance that adds a nice rugged look to your vehicle. This part is made in the USA.
Few specs on this. The dimension of the step itself, the width at the widest point, which will be in the back here is gonna be right at 14 inches wide. Depth of it is right at four inches deep. Total drop on this, when it's installed is gonna be about five inches. Weight capacity on this step is 500 pounds. And this part is for a quantity of one step. Multi-Mount system ensures a precise, stable fit.Mounted step about halfway on front edge of seat. Entering truck, my foot placement is towards the back of the step. Exiting the truck, my foot placement misses the step. I would move the step further back (front edge of step with front edge of seat) if I was to install another set. Mounting hardware does not sit perfectly against frame due to rivets, bolts, and other structural members of the truck. Final location is somewhat dictated by these obstacles. Used supplied and extra shims to fill in gaps between frame and mounting brackets. Final install was solid and product is well made.
The quality of these steps are great however to say they “fit” the Mercedes Sprinter is quite deceiving. When installed as per the instructions, you have only 5” of ground clearance remaining. My fear is that the first irregular driveway will rip them off as they are so low to the ground.
I just needed a clean, simple step for my wife @5’3” to get into our 2010 K1500.

I ordered the side steps at approximately 8:00 PM on Tuesday, December 22 and they were delivered to my house at approximately 11:00 AM on Thursday morning, December 24. The box was carefully packed with steps, bolts, brackets and an instruction sheet. I am converting the steps to mount on a 2021 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon so I do have some additional design work to do. Extremely satisfied with the company, their pricing, and with their efficiency.
