Video Transcript for WeatherTech Rear Mud Flaps Installation - 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

What's up everybody It's A.J with etrailer.com. Today we're gonna be checking out these WeatherTech mudflaps on our 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. These are going to be great for helping protect your truck from kicking up that dirt, gravel, mud off your tires. It's going to bounce off here instead of flipping up here and hitting the bottom side of your truck or going behind you and hitting somebody else. We're going to put them on the front and the back. Let's check it out.

They have a nice streamlined factory look to them. They match the trim on our Silverado already. So they don't look like they're out of place or anything like that. They don't come down aggressively far either. I think they're the right height to just keep that dirt and gravel from just coming up and hitting the bottom of your truck.

Also, they're pretty durable. They don't have a whole lot of flex to them. So it's not just like a piece of rubber. That's hanging down here, flapping back and forth. It is a plastic material, and it takes a little bit to get it to move.

So it's going to be a nice, stiff and rigid to help guard. We've got the front and the rear installed today. Now it does come in a kit. If you'd rather just get them separately you can do that too. You can either get the front or the rear separately.

See this looks similar to the ones up front. These are a little bit longer than those but same material. They're going to guard just as well. There's also a no drill installation. So you're using pre-existing holes in your fender wells. You're just gonna remove some bolts and then put them back in to keep these on there. Another good thing about the rear ones is that if you're towing something behind you it'll also protect against that. So you got a trailer behind you, you don't want to kick a bunch of mud and gravel towards it, or whatever's on the trailer. This is going to help protect that. Putting these on your truck. Doesn't take a lot of time. So just follow along with us and see how we did it. To get the rear one installed. It's going to be very similar. You're going to use the same Torx bit to remove these two down here. You're going to re-install those there just like we did upfront. The only thing that's different is this locking mechanism here. Now with the T 15 Torx bit, we're going to remove these. Once again this part's not going to fall off or anything. So you have to worry about that. We're gonna come here and clean the outside of our fender. Because we have an adhesive sticker we're going to add here just to protect the paint. We're gonna add our sticker here, widen at the bottom. Try and match it up with the edge of there. Just like that. Set it in place. We're going to match up those holes and get the bolts started. So then take our hex head tool. And we're a twist this in the lock position. It's going to bring the piece of metal on the back around the backside of the fender and lock in place. Looks like we had to push back just a little bit to get that to go. So I'm going to push back on it and just twist it into the lock position. Just like that. We're going to repeat that process on the other side. That about does it. I think these are going to be a great choice for your truck. Especially when they blend it as nicely as they do here. And not only do they look cool but they're functional as well. Like I keep saying they're really going to guard that gravel and mud that's getting kicked up behind your truck and just keep it from damaging and yours or somebody else behind you. Well, thanks for hanging out. And I hope this helped..

They went on really easily and have held up well. I got them to protect my travel trailer from road debris and gravel. I've driven lots on gravel roads and it seems to be holding up well.

I am very disappointed with the Weather Tech mudflaps, not because it took forever for them to be delivered (though it did -I was not told by e-trailer that they weren't in stock the day I ordered them), but by the fact when they were finally delivered, they were missing instructions (front mudflaps) and parts (rear mudflap was missing the center screw to the lock; the lock was found loose in the bag. I had to go to home depot to try and find the errant screw - i was not about to send them back and wait some more).
I have a lot of weather tech products on all 4 of our cars as well as full front and rear mats in the truck, and have never had a problem like this before. Both irritating, disappointing and requiring an additional cost of money and time to rectify).
The etrailer packing was excellent, and once i collected all the necessary parts / instructions and figured out how to re-assemble the loose lock, the installation proceeded in an orderly manner though taking longer than anticipated based upon the etrailer video. The quality of the actual flaps looks to be excellent and they look good on the truck. If there had been some visible quality control initially upon opening the packages, I would have given them 5 stars. Unfortunately that is not how it played out.

Super easy to install and it took about half an hour. Look good after a year and are still solid. Id buy them again.

Did not fit well on the 2022 Dodge Ram 3500. The rear flaps did not quite fit the OEM fender flares on the vehicle. Too tight - not enough clearance to sit nicely against the flares. There was also no hole for the trim fastener so had to drill a 1/4" hole for little plastic fastener - not a big deal. Hoping the front ones fit better, but they were worse. Same story - the "digital fit" flaps did not fit the OEM fender flares. Tried a heat gun to hopefully warm the flap and maybe get them to fit together better, but couldn't quite get it. I'll need to get some longer fasteners, otherwise one bolt and the little plastic tab are all thats holding it on. Maybe if the weather warms a bit...? Def not as advertised.

by:

Just like the description says...easy install, no drill, digital fit. Looks like they came with the truck. Highly recommend.

by:

Mud flaps were easy to install and fit great on my 2023 Tundra Hybrid Max

by:

Look great! Look OEM. Wish all the hardware was black. And in the front the two screws you pull out both sides, trash go get something a little longer and more girth. etrailer was great the arrived earlier then expected.

by:

Well designed and fit just right. Look great and seem to be made from durable material. Installation was straight forward and easy.

by:

Fantastic product. Very easy installation. High quality. Very fast delivery! Etrailer is the best as always!

by:

holes did not line up with pre existing holes on car
for installation. Very hard
to install. will NOT buy weathertec again

by:

These mud flaps are great! Good Instructions and install went quickly. They look really good and should perform well, protecting the rocker panels and the side steps from mud and stones. Very pricey but good quality. Front Pair.

by:

This is a good investment. First, etrailer is a great place to get what you need for supplies! The weathertech mud flaps are a great addition to a raised F-250 with larger tires that pulls. This will provide the rest of the protection I need as well as cut down on debris that the tires throw up at other cars/trucks. Very easy to install and if I want to remove them then I have all the pieces necessary except for the push grommets which I can get anywhere. I think I will leave them on for a while....not bad looking either.

  • Recommended Mud Flaps for a 2016 Chevy Silverado 2500HD Towing Airstream Trailer
According to Roadmaster the RoadWing Removable, Expandable Mud Flap System # RM-4400-102 requires at least 2" of space on the ball mount shank. Since this is the case and you have less than enough space I recommend installing custom mud flaps that install on your fender. The WeatherTech Mud Flaps # WT120035 are actually an excellent choice for your 2016 Chevy Silverado 2500HD because they install easily plus they stick outside the fender a bit as you can see in the attached installation...
