Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at this CURT custom fit fifth wheel installation kit with the dark gray base rails for the Dodge Ram trucks. Now, this is a custom fit part. It is designed to fit the 2002 to 2008 Dodge Ram 1500 trucks excluding the extended crew cab models. Now, this kit here is a complete installation kit, allows you to install a fifth wheel to your truck bed.
The kit will include everything shown here on the table. It includes these custom fit side mounting brackets, the base rails, all the hardware you need for installation, all the brackets, and even a nice set of detailed instructions that'll describe how it all goes together. Now, these side brackets I wanna zoom in on to talk about them. They are a custom fit bracket. They are designed to mount beneath your truck bed.
And as you can see, they'll provide the attachment points for the fifth wheel rails. Those brackets have a black powder coat finish to resist corrosion. And what's nice about them is they'll provide a custom fit by mounting to the existing holes in your vehicle's frame. If you notice the holes that are in the mounting brackets here, they'll line up with the holes on your frame and that'll minimize the amount of drilling that's required. So it does cut the installation time in half when compared with universal bracket kits.
Now, the base rails we've mentioned, that's these right here, these base rails are what'll sit in your truck bed and allows the installation of the fifth wheel trailer hitch to your vehicle. These rails are visible in your truck bed. If you notice these have a nice dark gray finish to them to match the color of your fifth wheel hitch. And these rails are industry standard rails which means they are compatible with B&W, CURT, Draw-Tite, Reese, and Husky above-bed fifth wheel trailer hitches.
