SAE Class II Warning Light

SAE Class II lights are intended for use on authorized maintenance and service vehicles. These lights serve as a warning signal to alert drivers and pedestrians of traffic hazards, such as a slow-moving vehicle. They are primarily used for service vehicles that are moving more slowly than the flow of traffic, such as a tow truck.

Video Transcript for Optronics Emergency Supplies - Warning Lights - SLL60ACB Review

Today we're going to be taking a look at the Optronix LED directional warning light bar, the amber directional light bar is for your vehicle. It's going to provide a warning signal to increase safety. It's ideal for towing, plowing and transportation, warehouse and agricultural applications. It does meet SAEJ845 requirements for class two vehicles, and the unit's going to feature 12 flash patterns so that way you can select whatever one works best for your environment and conditions and you can synchronize more lights together, so two or more lights can be wired to flash together or in an alternating pattern. Additional lights are sold separately. This is full LED system. LEDs are bright, long lasting and energy efficient.

This particular light bar is going to contain a total of nine diodes or nine LEDs. It's going to feature durable surface mount technology when it comes to the construction of the LED circuit board. That's going to better withstand shock and vibration and it allows for improved heat distribution. This unit is completely sonically sealed, so it's water proof when it comes to the housing and lens unit. It's going to feature an IP67K radian for industry standard protection against dust and moisture.

It's got the real nice clear polycarbonate lens that is impact resistant, and it's going to have the black aluminum housing that's durable and rust proof. Now this is a permanent install. It's going to install on the mounting surface with the included hardware. Heavy duty brackets are included as well, these are going to allow you to adjust the angle of the light. You can see there it's got the rotating slot so you can loosen up the hardware, rotate the leg, rotate the angle of the light to get the angle that you need for your application. Again, those brackets and hardware to get the brackets attached are included.

When it comes to the wiring, it's a four wire design. Now those wires are going to be protected by a nice, thick wire jacket, but basically your red wire is for power, your black wire is for ground, your yellow wire is for flash pattern selection and synchronization, so you attach the yellow wire to power to change the flash pattern. You can actually reset the flash pattern as well by touching the yellow wire to power three times consecutively. Then after selecting the flash pattern, connect the yellow wire of all the lights to synchronize the flash. The white wire is for alternating flash, so all the lights with white wires connected to power will alternate with all the lights not connected to power. Just be careful not to use the white wire for synchronized flashing.

Few measurements to go over with real quick and then we'll actually be able to hook it up to power that we can see what it looks like. We're going to start with the light bar dimensions, so just measuring the light bar, we're not including the brackets on this measurement. So the light bar itself is going to measure about 13.5/16" long. It's going to give us a height measurement, measure here at the back it's a little bit more squared off, so the height measurement here is about 2 1/4 maybe 2 5/16" and then the depth that's going to be about 2 7/16". Now when it comes to the overall measurements, these measurements will include the brackets, so going edge to edge that's going to give us a measurement of 15 and 11/16" and then the overall height with it in this orientation, that's going to give us a measurement of about 3 5/8" tall and then the depth remains the same at 2 7/16". Now the mount holes on the unit, they're going to be separated on center apart from one another by about 14 5/8". There's going to be about a 1" gap between the mounting surface and the closest point of the light bar, so this gap down here is about 1". The feet, these are going to give us a measurement going this direction of 2" and going this direction that's going to be about 1 3/16" to 1.25", so that's how much room each foot is going to take up at the mounting surface. The wire link is going to measure around 72" long, that's around six feet. When it comes to the power draw at 13.5 volts, we're looking at 0.77 amps and the operating voltage for the unit is 9 volts to 36 volts DC. Optronix also puts a lifetime warranty on the LEDs. We're going to go hook it up to power that way you can see what it looks like with some power running to it, and then we'll also be able to turn off our overhead lights so you can see it in a lower light setting, but we do want to go ahead and cycle through the different patterns that the unit has to offer. Now when you connect it for the first time, the light should be set up to go on random mode, now this does count as one of the flash patterns, but this just cycles through all the flash patterns available and you can install the light in the random mode, and then if we want to change all we got to do is take that yellow wire, tap it to power. It's going to allow us to cycle through, so this light bar does offer a constant or steady light pattern as well. This does count as a flash pattern even though that it does not flash. Touch it again, just going to allow us to cycle through all of the different functions that this light bar has to offer. Really nice bright design. I'm going to turn off the lights and I'll continue to cycle through, just give you an idea of how bright the unit is. Again it's going to contain nine LEDs so the multi diode design is going to really help optimize the overall light output of the unit. Then when you're ready to reset, all you have to do is tap that yellow wire to power three times consecutively and it should take it back to random mode, which it did. That's going to do it for today's look at the Optronix LED directional warning light bar. I also want to mention that if you would like to see a detailed list of all the flash patterns and what they're called, you can go to this product's page at etrailer.com to view that list.
