Quickly and easily install a 4-way trailer connector on your Toyota Tundra with this custom harness. T-connector plugs directly into existing wiring. Powered converter reduces strain on wiring system.
Features:
This custom-fit T-connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind your rear bumper on the driver's side. Once you've plugged in the tow harness, locate your vehicle's battery harness plug behind the driver's-side headlight assembly and plug in the power harness with the fuse holder. Run the harness to your battery and connect it to the positive terminal. Then insert the included fuse into the in-line fuse holder.
Once installation is complete, the 4-way connector will be stowed beneath your vehicle, near the trailer hitch. A mounting bracket (sold separately) is recommended to keep the connector secure.
It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.
A tail light converter is built into this T-connector. This converter is a battery-powered unit that bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness. As a result, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.
Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of the trailer. This converter combines the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

Hi everybody, Andy here with etrailer.com and today we're gonna take a look at this Hopkins plug-in simple vehicle wiring harness with a four pole flat trailer connector. Now, this is a custom fit wiring harness that is designed to fit the 2001 to 2002 Toyota Tundra. And this harness is going to give you a four pole flat trailer connector at the back of your Tundra to power your trailer lights. It is also compatible with five pole, six pole and seven pole adapters that are sold separately. And this also includes a detachable dust cap for the four pole flat connector, so that you will be able to cover up those connection points when the plug is not in use. Now, the black box that you see here on this harness is a taillight converter and this is going to ensure that your vehicle's wiring matches that of your trailer.
This powered module connects directly to your battery to avoid overloading your vehicle's electrical system. And this custom fit T-Connector is going to plug in to your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind your rear bumper on the driver's side. And once you've plugged in the tow harness, you wanna locate your vehicle's battery harness plug behind the driver's side headlight assembly and plug in the power harness with this fuse holder. And then, you're going to run the harness to your battery and connect it to the positive terminal. And then, you're going to make sure that the included fuse is plugged in to this inline fuse holder and you will be good to go.
Now, because most trailers run on a two-wire system, wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire, the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three wire system need to be combined, so they are compatible with the wiring system of your trailer. This converter combines the brake and turn signals of your automobile, so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's taillights. This will not affect how the taillights on your vehicle operates. So, once installation is complete, the 408 connector will be stowed beneath your vehicle near your trailer hitch. A mounting bracket, which is sold separately, is recommended to keep the connector secure.
You can take a look at the related product section on this product page for some recommendations on a mounting bracket. Now, it is recommended that you use a small amount of grease, which is included here, on all of your electrical connections, the plugs on your automobile and the four pole connector itself. That's going to help prevent corrosion and then, you can can use the cable ties here to secure any excess or slack in your wiring. And that's gonna conclude our look today. I do hope that it was helpful for you.
Again, my name is Andy. Thank you for joining me.
