This T-connector wiring harness uses your factory tow package to add a 7-way socket in your truck bed while also retaining the use of the 7-way at your vehicle's bumper. The harness plugs into the back of your 7-way at the bumper and also into your factory wiring. And it provides 10 feet of cord to run the second 7-way connector to your truck bed. Video Transcript for Hopkins Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring - Fifth Wheel and Gooseneck Wiring - HM40147 Review

Speaker 1: Today we're going to take a look at the Hopkins Endurance fifth wheel and gooseneck 90 degree wiring harness with the seven way plug. Now this is a custom fit part. It is designed to fit the 1997 to 2004 Ford F-150 and the F-250 light duty trucks with the factory seven way, and on any custom fit part I always like to recommend for you to go to our website, use our fit guide, put in your year and model vehicle, and it'll show if this will work for your application. Now this harness will provide the seven way blade style connector in your truck bed for a hassle free hook up of your fifth wheel or gooseneck trailers. The connector head on the harness is designed, as you can see, with a 90 degree angle, so it'll fit into tight spaces in your truck bed side rails. On the seven way connector, the lid on it is a nice durable lid with an oversized hinge, opens 180 degrees for an easy connection. When you do install this harness, it will allow you to retain the use of the factory seven way connector at the rear of your truck.

This does install very quickly and easily. There's no cutting or splicing required. Basically what you'll do is take this T-connector portion, plug this into the factory wiring harness, and also into the vehicle's factory installed seven way connector at the back of your truck. Then you'll have a ground wire here with an islet on it. That you want to connect to a good clean ground.

Then you run this 10 foot long wiring harness from the bumper all the way up to the truck bed, take it up to the side, and you'll have this installed in your truck bed. All you have to do is just line it up and plug it right in, and then your seven way will be all ready to go.If you notice also, on the seven way they do have enhanced weather proofing. It has this internal seal right up here so when the lid closes, it'll protect those terminals from any damage or any elements. The terminals are corrosion resistant, and they do use a rubber coated copper wiring. The seven way itself is constructed of extremely durable ABS plastic, and it does require a two and one-eighths inch diameter hole to be drilled in your truck bed for this to install in.

That does include everything shown here. The harness, the seven way, and includes the four self tapping screws to install this into your truck bed, some nylon ties to take up any slack in the wiring, nice set of detailed instructions and even a couple packets of dielectric grease or terminal grease. That grease you want to use anytime you plug in any connectors. You put some grease on it before you plug them together. Neck grease will help protect it for any rust or corrosion.

Again, the specs on this, the harness length is 10 feet. The wire gauge is in this harness. The purple, green, yellow and brown wires are 16 gauge, and the blue, red and white wires are 12-gauge.That should do it for the review on the Hopkins Endurance fifth wheel and gooseneck 90 degree wiring harness, with the seven way plug.

Looks nice in the package but the search tool told me this would fit my truck and it doesn't. Etrailer was helpful in getting a return label to me and finding the correct harness. Only thing that would have been nice if they would have waved the shipping on the new one for the hassle of there webpage mistake. That's the only reason I'm not giving more starts.

  • Equipping a 1997 Ford F150 Flareside for 5th Wheel Towing
A truck with a stepside or flareside bed (as Ford calls it) won't generally work for fifth wheel towing because of the narrowness of the truck bed. The sides of your pin box would collide with the top of the bed sides during turns beginning when the trailer is about 40-45 degrees to the truck, not very far in other words. Reese tells me that they have heard reports that using a Sidewinder replacement pin box that locks the pin box together with the fifth wheel hitch and moves the point...

  • Recommended 5th Wheel Truck Bed Wiring Harness for 2004 Ford F-250 Crew Cab
The correct Hopkins wiring harness for your 2004 Ford F-250 Crew Cab is the # 40167. This will have the correct connectors to adapt your factory 7-way on your F-250 to provide you with a 7-way in the bed of your truck too. The # HM40147 you were looking at is designed for the F-150 models. I have linked an installation video of this connector being installed for your convenience.

  • 7-Way Trailer Wiring Recommendation for 2006 Land Rover LR3
I have a way to install a 7-way on your 2006 Land Rover LR3 but the Hopkins kit you mentioned is for trucks towing fifth wheel trailers so it would not be the correct kit. You will need to start with a 4-way (if you do not have one). For that you would want the # C59496. Now if your trailer does not have brakes all you would need is the part # 37185 as an adapter to convert the 4-way to a 7-way. If you do have trailer brakes you would need the # ETBC7 instead of the # 37185 and a brake...
