Hi, everyone. It is Evangeline here at etrailer. And today we'll be taking a look at our Coghlan's camping broiler. So this is a single broiler that is made of cast iron. So if you want to cook at the campsite, let's say you're a solo camper, or you're just traveling with a couple of friends, not a huge crowd, just a few. This is going to be great as you cook your food directly over your campfire.

So the way this is shaped in size is perfect for cooking patties, but you can also cook, let's say chicken breasts, you can cook vegetables or even desserts there at the campsite. So this is pre-seasoned, meaning that it's ready to use right away. But as a personal recommendation, I do recommend going through your own round of seasoning beforehand, because it kind of does feel on the dry side. But also seasoning it beforehand will help you figure out or get a handle of how to take care of your cast iron broiler. And it's going to help make sure this does not rust up on you before your trip.

This also comes with a recipe book and some instructions. So checking this out before your trip, will help you figure out what kind of recipes you can use with this, as well as what ingredients you'll need to prepare ahead of time, especially with portion sizes. So I'm going to give you some dimensions right here, but it does say that you can cook one to two chicken breasts in the broiler for about 15 to 18 minutes per side. So that is on the smaller side, when it comes to having a broiler, but still going to help out with getting your meal ready. So the size of the broiler itself is going to be a diameter, so from the center, to the other side, of three and seven eighth inches.

So that's going to be enough space for most of your hamburger patties, and make sure if you're going to make your own to size them appropriately. Notice also how we have open slots on the inside, and that will allow the grease to escape as you cook your burgers. Now, the handle itself is going to be 20 by three eighth inches, with an overall length of 26 inches. And when cooking, touch it by the wooden handle and not by this steel shaft. Actually, because of how it's made, this is going to hold onto some heat for some time.

So when you are using it, just make sure to hold it right where it will not burn you. And then after, or while you're cooking, make sure that it's all locked in place. You have some clips right over here, and that's going to help you out right on the inside, as well as on the outside. So this is going to keep your broiler closed during cooking, and right afterwards, when you want to open it, you have to just release those handles. Be careful with the middle ones, in order to get your food. Now, when you're done with your meal and you're ready to clean up as well as pack up, you can remove these handles by rotating them. Now, this does have a little bit of a long thread, so you're going to have to give it a minute before it fully releases, but this is going to be a great way to store your broiler. Also, remember whenever you are using cast iron that you don't use soap to wash this down, you have to use proper methods with cleaning cast iron utensils. But as you can see this creates a much smaller or more compact broiler. With the handles out of the way, it's going to make it easier for you to store. And when you're ready to cook again, you just tighten this down. So all in all, this is a very lightweight broiler. It's nice and small, ideal for if you have a smaller camping trip and not as many people. If you do have more people, you may want to check out the exact same broiler that has a double version. So you get the exact same cast iron features, but a little bit more space, but for a little bit more food. But all in all, this was a look here at our Coghlan's camping broiler. My name is Evangeline, and I hope you enjoyed this little demo..
