Video Transcript for PTC Custom Fit Charcoal Cabin Air Filter Installation - 2006 Toyota Camry

Today on our 2006 Toyota Camry, we're going to be taking a look at showing you how to install the PTC custom fit charcoal cabin air filter, part number 35136. A lot of times when you take your vehicle to get some simple maintenance done, such as an oil change, they'll ask do you want your air filter changed Without thinking, you'll say yes, but then you'll get overcharged without knowing how easy it is to do yourself. So we're going to show you how to do it now. Changing out your air filter regularly is a great way to maintain the quality of air inside your vehicle and overall just improve your driving experience. The filter is going to help keep out dust, dirt, and other emissions from other vehicles while the charcoal material it's made out of is going to help with pollen and other odors that you may encounter. So if you have allergies, it's a good idea to regularly change this out. Now with most vehicles, the filter is going to be behind or under your glove box.

Every vehicle is going to be a little bit different, but that's the general area where you should start looking for it. Here on our '06 Camry, it's going to be located behind our glove box.So we're going to have to move that to get better access. First you need to remove this little piston right here. We're just going to bring our fingers up to the top and then pop it out like so. Now we have a tab on both sides of the box.

We're going to have to bend the plastic to get those tabs out. So we're going to hold on to the top of the box right here and then push up real hard on this plastic right here and just bend it back like so. Now we have access to the cap that is covering our cabin air filter. You do want to notice that it does say up right here, letting you know which direction to place your filter. We'll go ahead and remove this.

Pop it right off and there's the filter right there. Now we can just grab it and remove it.This one has a lot of dirt on it, so you're just going to want to be careful to clean up your mess if you make one. Taking a look at the filters side by side, it's pretty obvious which ones the new one and why you should replace it regularly. Now with the leaves removed, you can still see all of the dirt, debris and other allergens that have accumulated over time. We can just go ahead and toss the old one and replace it with a new one.

Now if you recall, when we pulled out our old filter, all the leaves we're sitting on top. That lets us know that the air was flowing from top to bottom. Now, we have our arrows pointing down and air flow right there is right side up.So it lets us know that we put it in this way. We'll go ahead and just insert like so. Now we can just replace the cap. You want to make sure you push down and get both sides to clip in. Then, you can go ahead and reposition our glove box like so. Now we need to replace the piston as well. It's easier to just slide it up a little bit and then place that bottom hole on the pin and then we're going to feed it up like so to our other hand. You need to find the spot where it pins on. Once you find that spot, go ahead and feed it through the hole like so. Then you can close your glove box and you're all done. With the new filter installed, we're going to have a lot cleaner and healthier air inside our vehicle. You just want to make sure you change it out every 12-18,000 miles or just once a year. There you have it for the PTC custom fit charcoal cabin air filter on our 2006 Toyota Camry.

All products came together in one package. Shipping time was fair. As always, etrailer was great for getting exactly what I needed.

Shipping cost is poo; added the items I needed for my car to negate that mess.

Very fast delivery! Excellent products and all installed into the camper! The blocks are very compact and easy to carry. I like that I can use them for my rear duals without making two stacks. Quality filter and the new faucet was an easy install. Works like a dream! Now all my faucets are single handle! Great pricing. Buy here.

While the Filter seems acceptable, the [online] video etrailer has on-line showing how to DIY install/replace and access the filter is incomplete and a bad source of how to do it. In it, the information on a simple procedure like removing the glove box to get at the filter housing completely neglects to tell an Acadia owner it is necessary to easily disconnect the left-side of the glove box from the swivel restraint which takes two seconds. That earned the one star review and caused me to finally source other, complete and accurate [online] videos on how to do it.
