Speaker 1: Today we're going to be taking a look at the WeatherTech line of Easy-0n Stone Deflector and Bugs Shields. Now here's a look at one of the Easy-0n Bug Deflectors installed. Now these do a great job of following along exactly with the contours of your truck. And they can offer you a lot of protection for that paint up here on the leading edge. You can see it's kind of unique on our Tundra here. The way it really comes up, comes over, it's not blocking any of the ventilation here on the top of the hood.

And still helps to maintain a really good look while giving us a lot of protection. Now, just like on our Tundra here, all of these are designed to be an exact fit for your vehicle, so we're not just taking a universal piece of plastic and trying to bend it and flex it and make it work. This has been designed exactly, just like WeatherTech floor mats, they get an exact map of the front of the vehicle and they can help to ensure that it's going to fit each and every time. Now with this Easy-On system, installation is going to be very, very quick. In our case, it took us maybe five minutes. Two of those we're just cleaning the surface to make sure it was ready. Each application is going to be a little bit different, but generally if we look through the reviews and everything, think five to fifteen minutes is really going to be all the time you need to spend on it.Now to help that installation along, this is going to be, again, custom design, so this hole that's in this tab lined up perfectly with an already existing hole in the bottom side of our hood.

Now some people have given a few complaints about these. They call them screws, but basically what this is is it's just like a push pin fastener. So the outside is going to go in and then you'll push that center in, you really don't have to turn it with a screwdriver or anything like that. Eventually when it is all the way flush like this, you could continue to turn it. So it's not exactly like a screw in that it's threaded, so keep that in mind.

Some people have commented that they don't like the way these fasteners hold and they'll replace that center section with a steel, stainless steel screw of their own. It's kind of going to be up to you, but in our case anyway, on this Tundra, it seems to work out really well. Now also, you can see right along this bottom edge here, most applications you're going to have the double sided foam tape. That gives us a great hold. So while we're traveling down the highway, we don't have to worry about wind getting underneath here and lifting it up or causing any flex. Now, each of their deflectors are made from an aerospace grade acrylic. Acrylic is a very, very durable material.

They say this is something that's virtually indestructible and it's also really good at resisting scratches. And that's going to complete our look at the WeatherTech line of Easy-0n Stone Deflector and Bug Shields.

Had this bug deflector for a year now. Very happy with it. Easy to install yourself using existing parts on the stock truck. Better than the adhesive only on other brands. Solid and looks great.

Happy with the purchase. No issues with the shield, looks great and holding up well.

The deflector itself is fair. They cheaped out and 4 of the 6 mounting screws are plastic. Yes plastic and a poor gauge plastic too considering they have to hold the rubber hood seal in place and prevent wind whistle and debris from entering the Compartment. During the install two of the plastic screws didn't cut, they could not hold the pressure of the rubber gasket and the big deflector had to stop and go find substitute metal fasteners. Additionally, the first one showed up broken in a 2 boxes taped together poorly packed attempt at shipping. Jammed inside the box rubbing all over the long bug deflector were my mudflaps (which are garbage) They sent me out another one but I had to wait an additional week, they didn't even upgrade the shippIng,

Installing the WeatherTech Bug Shield would have been a whole lot easier if the hold down anchors and screws used with the rubber hood seal were long enough to secure the bracket and seal to the hood. I had to use longer plastic anchors and screws to get the brackets secure. This issue was raised in other reviews, so apparently these reviews are never read by anyone at WeatherTech. Otherwise, a very nice useful product.

IMO WeatherTech has gone straight downhill. This bug deflector is confirmation. The deflector itself, average, but the attachment system is complete garbage. One would think stainless screws would be included but instead WeatherTech includes cheesy push rivets that don't expand enough to even work. Never again.

Customer service from Noah was stellar!!! Quality of the Weather Tech shield is excellent as would be expected - would be five stars if the mounting hardware wasn't just plain garbage!!!! The clips are just OK for mounting the outside edge of shield to hood - but the screws and anchors for the inside - 4 each of them are completely useless - throw away and go to the hardware store - anchors are way to small (just spin in the factory holes of my new Ford F-150) and screws are way to short to go through gasket and shield - I have installed numerous Weather Tech shields with absolutely no issues!!! Use license plate screws with no anchors and they fit exactly the factory holes for a snug fit - short enough so they won't reach the outside hood but long enough to attach both seal and guard - worked like a charm but you shouldn't have to do this on something with the reputation that Weather Tech has - whoever the engineer was that came up with this fiasco of mounting needs to have his/her credentials verified - I called Weather Tech - they said I must have the wrong anchors and screws - they sent me the exact same ones as replacement!!! Very disappointed - but it looks great now!!!!

it seems ok quality ways however the plastic hardware that comes with it is usesles save your self time and aggravation and go and buy some good stainless steel screws washers and anchers before your try to install it the plastic stuff that is provided with the deflector is junk and easily brakes

Overall this is a very good product...the rear covers could be a little tighter. I put a small piece of mounting tape in the channels to make sure they do not bounce loose.

by:

Great fit and easy installation. Weathertech makes only top rate products. Etrailer.com had fast delivery and I'll continue to be a repeat customer.

by:

Airflow caused by air deflector appears to now cause the hood to vibrate at high speeds.

by:

Install was difficult due to small fasteners provided. Had to get longer ones at auto parts store, and still was difficult to get tight. Havent driven with it on yet.

Product is as described, looks great. Installation was explained but video would be an asset. Difficulty with and some muscle needed on the hood/ gasket expanding screws. Clips needed to be expanded A LOT...

looks good but fasteners are junk replaced with stainless screws

I purchased this bug deflector for my Jayco Greyhawk motorhome about a year ago and it has held up beautifully. I am sure that without it I would have chips and issues on the motorhome after putting 15k miles on it. Thanks e-trailer for quick shipments and great support.

by:

It fit fine. Only issue was with the first hole on the drivers side. It was either thin or drilled a bit larger as the screw for it would not bite and hold. I used a clip I had on hand for this and it worked fine.

by:

I really like it. Easy to install and very sleek looking
I need to order another one because I hit a deer and my hood is getting replaced, so I will be getting another one

by:

Really great product and a perfect hood protector from road rocks and bugs.

by:

Looks good. After installed. Just wish I didn't have to drill one hole as directed into the metal. Drivers side tip appears to be higher than the passenger side

by:

I have purchased and used WeatherTech products in the past, always had good quality and concise installation instructions. I recently added the Stone and Bug deflector on my 2019 Colorado, it looks great. Having a new windshield installed because of a stone crack, hope to avoid these in the future.

by:

I ordered a bug deflector specific for my truck but this one seemed to be a generic for GM trucks. the tabs did not fit properly for the underside of my hood. The double sided tape did not match properly to the underside of the hood and the tape was not sticky enough to adhere to the metal. The outboard retainer clips were not the proper style to clip to my hood and stay in place. Road vibaration causes the clips to disengage each time I drive the vehicle

by:

Install went ok, some of the red plastic you pull off the adhesive broke off and would not come off. Hope it will not effect long term performance of bug shield.

by:

Easy installation, arrived fast and great price!

by:

Weather Tech Easy-on bug guard has worked great since installed a year ago. UV damage has not occurred. Holds up extremely well to driving usage.

by:

It is a quality product, but I would not say it is an easy install. After removing the necessary fasteners, it was tricky getting the tabs lined up between the rubber lip and hood. I don’t think I could have accomplished this without my wife’s help. Secondly, some of six included replacement fasteners were extremely difficult to install.

Weathertech only included the six required fasteners with no spares. I bent the tips of the two most outboard fasteners trying to get them aligned with the existing holes (hard to see when peering through the rubber and shield), so those two are not properly anchored at the moment.

I contacted Weathertech; they are sending me replacements free of charge. Weathertech should consider including a few extras in the kit.

The install, which after viewing etrailer’s excellent video, should have taken 30 minutes or less, but because of those fastener issues, took me about 1.5 hours.
