Thule Big Mouth Roof Bike Racks Review - 2014 Hyundai Accent

Today on our 2014 Hyundai Accent we're going to be test fitting the Thule Big Mouth. This is a fork clamp style roof mounted bike rack. It's part number is TH599XTR. We've got the Thule Traverse Roof Rack System that we've already installed on the accent so we're going to begin our test fit by placing the bike rack directly up onto our load bars. We're going to separate the 2 clamps located here in the front, bringing the T-bolts back behind our bars. We'll bring the lower portions of our clamp around the underside. We'll slide the T-bolt back into the lower portion of the clamp. Then we can use the black wing nuts located on top here to tighten those down.

We'll bring the black rubber coated metal straps around the underside and position our, the upper portions of our clamp directly on top of the bars. With those in place, we're going to bring our metal strap up to the head of the carrier here and we're going to fit it into the two small indentations. We'll then come to the rear, and tighten up the black lever. When it's out straight like this, you can get a lot of turns on it very rapidly to take out the slack and then we'll turn it over into it's lever position to get more torque on it.
