Hey everybody. Rob here at etrailer.com. And today we're going to be taking a look at the PTC custom fit engine air filter on our 2017 Toyota Sienna.Now, our engine air filter is going to be a great replacement for your factory air filter. And making sure that your air filter is clean and serviceable is going to make sure that we're going to get the best fuel economy and performance out of our engine in our Sienna. Because let's face it, whether we're using our Sienna to just drive around and we have a big family and we need to get places, we want to make sure we're getting that economy out of the fuel mileage we're getting. But at the same time, if you use our Sienna to tow, we want to make sure that the engine is going to perform and be able to tow that trailer or whatever we're pulling safely and securely.So it is pretty important to make sure that your air filter is serviceable.

Because again, if it starts to get dirty, we're robbing our engine of the air it needs to breathe. And there's no reason to pay somebody to replace the filter for you. I know we've all been in that situation where we're getting our oil changed, something in the service center, and they offered to replace your filter. Well, I can tell you from personal experience, it's so easy that there really is no reason to pay anybody. You can save yourself a little bit of money and you can do it at home.

In fact, there's no tools required. We have our new one here, so let's go ahead and check our current filter. If it needs to be replaced, we can put the new one in.The first thing you want to do is open up the hood, and we're going to come to the driver's side. Now directly behind the battery, we'll find our air box. And again, on the driver's side, we're going to have two metal tabs.

Just pull them away or towards the front. We want to grab the driver's side edge, kind of lift up, because over in the passenger side, towards the center, we're going to have these tabs we need to slide out. Once we get those tabs out, we can reach underneath, grab the filter, and pull it out.Now the filter's not that dirty, but you can already see it is catching some larger debris, which is definitely a good thing that it is catching it. Because if some of this other larger debris made it through and got into the engine, it can cause quite a bit of damage. And replacing it's super simple, just a reverse order of what we did.

So we'll lift up the cover, just sneak that filter into the box. Make sure it sits all the way flat in there. Want to line up those tabs, make sure they go back in. And just closed down the clasp. Replacing the filter really is that easy. And again, it is going to make sure that we're getting the best fuel economy and performance out of our Sienna.But again, I'm Rob here at etrailer.com.
