Video Transcript for PTC Custom Fit Engine Air Filter Installation - 2017 Chrysler Pacifica

Ryan: Hey everybody, Ryan here at etrailer. Today on our 2017 Chrysler Pacifica, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the PTC custom fit engine air filter. The engine air filter is often one of those forgot about maintenance items that no one really thinks too much about, but in all honesty, it's a very important component and it needs to be regularly changed to keep clean and that's because the filter is going to provide your engine with the fresh clean air it needs to breathe. Whenever you have a dirty filter, it's really going to limit that flow and that's really going to affect the power, performance, fuel mileage, and just kind of that overall drivability that you're looking for in your Pacifica. So whenever you put a nice clean one in, you're going to be able to either regain those or maintain that performance, so it's a really important thing. So just to give you an example, here's the old one that we pulled out. Now this one isn't in horrible shape, but it's so easy to change, you might as well do it.

Now if we hold them side by side, you can see that the PTC is going to be almost identical. It actually looks a little more well-built in my opinion. The silicone here isn't as sloppy as this one and it's going to really last a long time. Now if you flip it over, you can see that the pleats, that's actually what's going to filter the air, so if you look at our old one here, you open these up. You can see a little bit of dirt and debris is starting to build up in there.

As I said, it's not horrible, but if we have it out, it's so easy to change, you might as well pop a new one in. It's definitely not going to hurt anything. But speaking of that installation, there's really no reason to have anyone do it for you. It's so easy, just about anyone should be able to do it, so it's a beginner install. We're going to pop the hood and over here on the driver's side, we're going to have our air box, so we have to take this lid off. Underneath it is where the air filter is going to be located.

So for a single do, you see we have this hose that goes to our box. You can disconnect it. You simply just push down on this gray portion here, hold it down and pull out. It'll come right off. Then on each corner, we're going to have a fastener.

You got a couple choices here. You can use either an eight millimeter socket or even a screwdriver to pull those out.Once we have them out, we can grab our air box and pull towards you a little bit, can lift it up, pull our old filter out, take our new PTC one and drop it into position. Now I want to point out when we put this back, if you look on this end of our air box, it's going to be some key ways almost whenever you put this back in. It's a little tricky to see, but you want those to line up with the openings down here, so you can see there's a little square cutout, so just make sure those are paired together, lined up. Sometimes it can be a little tricky just to get everything in that correct position, but you'll know when it is. It'll kind of fall into place. Then from there, we'll just repeat the same process, tighten our screws back down and this tube simply just pushes right back on and that's all there is to it.And that'll finish up our look at and our installation of the PTC custom fit engine air filter on our 2017 Chrysler Pacifica..
