Hey, everyone. It's Evangeline here at etrailer.com And today, we are looking at the Yakima OverHaul HD truck bed upright with a tonneau cover kit here at etrailer.com. These uprights work with the Yakima HD bars and the tonneau cover which are not included. If you have a tonneau cover, or if you wanna add a tonneau cover to your vehicle, but you also want a ladder rack, these are great options because these mount into the T-track channels on your tonneau cover. So, make sure you have that channel right there, so that you can mount through these ladder racks to it. This works with Pace Edwards, RetraxPRO, and really any other tonneau cover that has those channels.
If you already have a Yakima OverHaul HD or an OutPost, you can get this adapter kit to adapt your ladder rack to your tonneau cover. This allows you to mount it in the channels, and replaces the quick release system that your other ladder rack system may have. The uprights themselves have a lot of features. One, you can lock them. So, I have this on lock.
And if you want to just take off the entire system, you can take off the lock. And then, loosen your bolts and take off this ladder rack quickly and completely. Another thing is that this is made of a sturdy aluminum construction with this nice matte black finish. So, it's actually a lot lighter than I expected, but it's also, super sturdy. These are the OverHaul HD uprights, so that means they can adjust up and down.
They also have markings in the back which helps you as you adjust them. Now, if you want something that is fixed, you can also get the OutPost HD instead of the OverHaul. It's really just up to you on what's the best application for your adventures, as well as your truck. On the inside, you have these integrated tie down points. And it's really strong.
It's a very sturdy. But a nice little feature that they added is how it has a bottle opener here at the bottom. For you Yakima fans out there, these work with your same key system. So, if you have Yakima accessories that use a certain key, you can switch out your lock core, so that you can use the same key for all of your Yakima accessories. With the OverHaul HD system, you have a 300 pound weight capacity if you're driving on-road. Now for you my friends that like to go off-road or off-roading, you do have 180 weight capacity when you do so. So, just keep that in mind. When you slide tonneau cover, see how the cover fits underneath and doesn't interfere with your ladder rack system. The OverHaul HD can be adjusted up and down. Now the measurement starts from the top of your tonneau cover or the top of your rails, wherever they are on your tonneau cover. So, the lowest it can be is 19 inches which is about here. And the tallest is 30 inches from the top of your rails. So, we'll take some measurements and it is, we have an overhang of 12 inches on the side. And these bars are about 40 inches apart. And you can get up to 52 inches for your crossbar spread. This is here on a five foot bed on our Tacoma. But if you have longer beds, you can get it further apart. Just note that the minimum crossbar distance for this system is 36 inches. With these uprights, you do have some points here where you can install sidebar rails. So, if you wanna attach accessories that attach straight to the uprights, this is where you can put them. As for how this works with your tonneau cover. I'll take some measurements of the channels. Now, this sits measuring from the center of the channel to the end of the base, it's 2 1/2 inches. My final thoughts about this whole system is I think it works really well with tonneau covers, especially ones that have these T-track channels. At first, you might not be sure because it's only these channels that they're mounting to. But the way that everything works together, it's very sturdy and it's very easy to install. One thing I love about it too is how you can adjust it up and down. So, if you have different trucks of different shapes and sizes, you can find the best fit for your vehicle. All in all, it's a great system. It works really well with your covers. Just make sure that you find the right one to match your truck. And that was a look at the Yakima OverHaul HD truck bed rack uprights with the tonneau kit here at etrailer..

Heavy-duty ladder rack uprights work with tracked tonneau covers to mount 2 Yakima HD crossbars to your truck bed. Uprights adjust allowing you to customize your setup. Base pads mount to the tonneau cover's integrated tracks. Includes hardware.Easy installation, great product, great customer service. Super easy to adjust. Some reviews online said the instructions were poor, if you can change a lightbulb you can install this rack. It gives you the torque settings but you need a torque wrench of course. I just used my best judgement and the allen wrenches provided. Some of the best communication throughout the ordering and shipping process I have ever had.
works great, works as advertised!

Excellent!
The rack is great. I have added kayak and paddle holders to it. Rotopax cans and just recently added Roam case mounts to it. All bolted up with no problems and the racks adjustability made it even easier. No complaints 1 year in. Finish has no defects. Had held up to light off road use.
Works seamlessly with the retrax rollup cover and not too hard to install. Adjusting the height takes a little bit of work but that is only done on a very limited basis. Allows me to carry my kayaks, a cargo box if I need extra space or paddles & fishing rods so they don't get damaged by closing the tailgate on them.
The rack arrived fast in three separate boxes (base,Tacoma kit, and crossbars). The box with the cross bars was a little dinged up, but everything inside was fine. Items were packaged very nice and organized.
Seeing it up wasn't too bad. I took care of the Tacoma adapter one evening and the rest the following evening. The only tricky part was getting the cross bars aligned and attached. That part would definitely be easier with an extra set of hands or clamps. And then getting the screws in closest to the post was a bit of a bear. I'm sure there are more mechanically inclined people who would have gotten it 1,2,3.
Putting the Tacoma kit on was SUPER EASY courtey of watching the instructional video a couple of times! Such a fine feature on this site! Thank you for that!
I also needed to go over which base went where. There was a small illustration that showed which one sent where. Only to a minute to figure out out, but maybe labeling each one and having a diagram in the instructions would facilitate that part.
Overall, not a tricky installation by any means. And they look GREAT!!! Love the powder coat paint and the style! I'm really happy with them!
The rack is great. Simple to install, extremely sturdy & very well designed. I drove it to Cars & Coffee yesterday & someone asked me what I needed to haul or if I merely installed them "because they look cool."
The young lady, Janeth, that helped me was really great!
Smart, polite, patient, & above all... knowledgeable about product.
I would suggest selling the rack specific for Retrax bed cover. The amount of hardware left over when you add the adapter kit to the standard rack seems really excessive. Rather than be $169 add, it should be a deduct of at least that much.
I have a 2023 Nissan Frontier Pro-4X. I saw a eTrailer video about installing this on the truck. I then emailed the support folks and asked about install and the link to the Adapter kit for the Frontier Utili-trac rails. The etrailer person said that this cannot be mounted on the Frontier and posted this answer somewhere. Ignoring the response, I ordered the Overhaul HD, 68" bars and the Adapter kit. It installed just fine (had to take my time lining up the Utili-trac bed rail adapters. This is a very sturdy and well made Yakima product, as it should be for the cost! Very happy with this product.
These adjustable supports are exactly what I needed for strength and the ability to adjust laterally and vertically to accommodate various loads. They fit the T-slots in the bedrails perfectly. Highly recommend these supports!
This Yakima Overhaul HD Rack is the best! It is so versatile and you can adjust it in so many ways to accommodate your needs. I use mine for hauling kayaks, canoes, camping and hauling other miscellaneous items when needed. Great rack!!!
Love the rack and after about a 4 hr install (DYI) it is easier than thought to raise the height up and down.
Very happy with the Yakima setup. Sturdy, good fit and finish on all parts. Ended up ordering a second set for a work truck.
Very happy this product so far. The adapter kit worked great to mount them on my retrax bed cover. I have been hauling up to 2 kayaks and a rod rack on them and they work great. Very solid and they are the best looking racks I have seen on the road.
TMy 2022 Tacome TRD Sport, 4x4 Double Cab, Short Bed truck has a RetraxOne XR Tonneau Cover with integrated T-slot rail. Using the the Yakima tonneau cover adapter kit, the Yakima OverHaul HD rack was a perfect fit.
I ordered the rack with the 60" crossbars for a nicer narrow rack look.
Super happy with the way my truck looks and the practical functionallity of my rack.
Great Customer service, I ordered the wrong item and the order was corrected with no issues. Great follow up by phone and email from Terri N to ensure all issues were resolved. The item was the correct fit and is an awesome product, highly recommend this product.
2019 Tacoma 5’6” (had factory tri-fold, had to take off the rail pegs for that). Requires the extra track mounting kit #1 (got from Yakima). Very sturdy rack! Simple install, haven’t noticed any wind noise, even at over 75mph and with bars up high. Used 60” HD bars (very nice). Bought for frequent hauling of long/heavier kayaks. Not much steel to rust from the winter salt here. Will probably switch back to tri-fold cover for winters, wish there was an affordable cover option that worked with this.
Good ladder rack thanks
Great rack system able to lower them to go through car washes or even take it off when hauling bigger things in the truck bed. Works great with bed cover. I use it for everything. No permit drilling and really structurally solid. I have hauled beams of wood which I had to raise them higher then the roof of truck , kayaks, ladders, etc.
Yakima products are outstanding! The ability to remove these from the bed when not needed is fantastic. Rock solid when attached & the locking device keeps them secure - no worries about theft. When used with the Yakima crossbars, the height adjustability allows for many uses. Highly recommend.
We've had a few different ladder racks on our work trucks over the years but without hesitation, this is by far the best yet. You can tell from right out the box, this rack is made to last. Not overly difficult to install, took me a little less than an hour. Again, I can't be more impressed with Yakima's ladder rack and while it might be a bit more pricey than some other racks on the market, it's well worth the extra money when you use it everyday like we do.

My racks are great! They are still there, standing tall, holding my tent proudly. Nothing has even thought of shaking loose.
