Ellen: Hey, everyone. I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com, and we're going to be taking a look at the replacement base for your Demco fifth-wheel hitch. This allows you to work with the Demco fifth-wheel that fits into your factory prep package for the Ford. That part number for the complete kit is there on the screen. So if that's the original one that you had, this is a direct replacement for that.But maybe you already had one of the heads from Demco, and you just want to update the base to fit with that newer Ford. This fits the 2011 through the current Ford to drop into that factory prep package and allow you to use that puck system.
So it makes it pretty easy to use that. It is going to fit the 250, the 350, and the 450 for the eight-foot bed. That's more what it's intended to since this is going to be a fixed fifth-wheel, doesn't really allow for movement. Sometimes if you have that shorter bed, you want to have something that's a little bit offset to give you the most clearance possible.But we'll drop into that prep package system. So it should be a good option for you there.
Allows you to put in your fifth-wheel when you need it, take it out fairly easily when you don't. This base on its own weighs about 80 to 90 pounds, about 88 pounds. So if you're comfortable with lifting that amount of weight on your own, it makes it easier to take it apart from the saddle bracket and the head assembly, it does come into those three main parts. So it makes it easier to take this out whenever the time comes for that.We can just give it a little spin here. See, we'll have our bracket set on the side that allows you to open up the feet, drop it into that rail system, and then close it down.
You can also make an adjustment to those to make sure that they fit nice and snug. And all the hardware for this is included. I don't have it laid out, but it does come with everything you need to attach the saddle bracket in the middle there, but then supports the head on top.It's covered in a nice powder coat finish. Dirty steel construction should last you a long time. This is again a replacement for the Hijacker series.
