How to Install a Curt Brake Controller in a 2006 Chevy Silverado 1500
Question:
I have installed # C51110,C51352 along with Hopkins #40975 connected to the factory pigtail near spare tire . I have mounted the C51110 and connected to the under dash fuse panel using C51352 , I do not have any power to the controller . I removed under hood fuse box cover and found that the red wire is connected to the #1 stud and has the red blank in the fuse slot . The blue wire has a connector , but is not connected to anything. I know that a fuse must be ed where the red blank is installed , cause I checked for power with a test light in the fuse slot and it has power . My questions are : 1- Do I only have to install an applicable fuse to complete the installation ? 2- Does anything need to be done to the unconnected blue wire under the hood ? the truck never had a trailer hitch installed or been wired for electric brakes and not even had a connector installed for trailer lights . The factory round plug near spare tire has all 7 wires connected to from vehicles wiring harness , so I just took the plug cap off and connected to the Hopkins #40975 . All trailer lights and signals function properly . I just need to get the electric brakes working . What do you suggest I do ?

You have installed correctly all of the components you referenced. The # C51110, # C51352, and the # HM40975.
The issue you are experiencing is that the tow package wiring under the hood of your truck hasn't been completed like you suspected.
The blue wire will need to get run to the brake output circuit of the 7-way you installed. Since this circuit isn't connected to anything that means the 7-wires that are at the rear of your vehicle aren't all ran. You will need to run a length of 10 gauge wire like part # 10-1-1 sold by the foot from where the blue wire connects back to the 7-way.
Also, you will need to install a fuse in the location you referenced. For more info check out the FAQ article I attached to the right.
