How To Install a Trailer Brake Controller in a 2004 Toyota Land Cruiser
Question:
I have a 2004 Toyota Land Cruiser with towing package and 7-way blade-style trailer connector. If I want to tow a trailer that has electric brakes, do I just connect trailer harness to my 7-way plug, or do I need a Trailer Brake Controller?

To activate the brakes of your trailer while towing your 2004 Land Cruiser you will need two additional components. You will need a brake controller and a brake controller install harness.
For a brake controller I would recommend the Prodigy P2 Brake Controller part # 90885. This is our best selling brake controller because of how well it works and how easy it is to setup.
Now to wire this brake controller your vehicle with a factory 7-way you will need the install harness part # 3040-P. Simply plug one end of the adapter into your brake controller and then plug the other end into the built-in harness beneath your vehicle's dash.
