Troubleshooting the 12 Volt Power Accessory Circuit Not Being Hot on a 2010 Silverado
Question:
Are there any other connections in the harness between the trailer plug and the battery terminal ? I have power going to the hot wire, but no power in the wire entering the plug connector ! Dealers arent much help !

Expert Reply:
I would check the underhood fuses and relays for the tow package wiring on your 2010 Chevy Silverado. Also, there should be a connection made under your hood for the 12 volt power circuit to be complete.
The ring terminal for the 12-volt power lead for the 7-way trailer connector is located to the left of the power distribution box. It is taped to a wire harness under the power brake booster. Cut the tape to release it from the harness. Then run the wire to the front of the power distribution box and hook the ring on the right post (M8 stud). I attached a picture to the right that shows where this wire is as well as an FAQ article that details more on how this connection is made.
