We have several fifth-wheel hitches that are designed to work with your 2004 Ford F-150 with the 6-1/2 ft bed. I have attached a helpful article that has some information about fifth-wheel hitches you can check out. The fifth-wheel hitches we offer will not work if your f-150 is a Flareside or Stepside.
The fifth-wheel hitch you select would depend on the gross towing weight and tongue weight you need. And some of the higher capacity hitches do have some enhanced features that make them more attractive. For example, if I had a 17,000 lb trailer I would allow for more capacity and select a 20,000 lb hitch like the Curt A20 Fifth Wheel, part # C16541. This hitch features a 2-jaw locking system which means less rattle. This hitch has a height adjustment from 17-1/2 to 21-1/2 inches.
The custom installation kit I recommend is part # C16441-204. Because it uses the existing holes in your f-150 frame, it cuts the installation time in half.
If you know what the gross trailer weight and the tongue weight is on your trailer, you can let me know and I will be happy to make some recommendations that will work for you.
