There are a few differences between the Curt and the Reese fifth wheel hitches. I am comparing the 20,000 lb hitches, the Curt is part # C16130, and the Reese is part # RP30928. Both are good hitches but do have some differences to take note of.
Both have custom installation brackets available. The Curt hitch has a vertical load limit of 4,000 lbs, and a height adjustment between 13 to 17 inches, where the Reese hitch has a vertical load limit of 5,000 lbs and a height adjustment from 14 to 18 inches.
The Reese Hitch, has a longer warranty and added features like a larger 9 inch wide funnel and higher height adjustment for faster, easier hookup, and a single piece self latching jaw to ensure proper connection to the trailers king pin.
If you need a 7-way harness in the bed of your 2014 Dodge Ram 3500, I recommend the Bargman Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring, part # 50-97-410.
When working with electrical connectors I recommend using dielectric grease like part # 11755. This keeps dirt and moisture out of the connections and helps prevent corrosion.
