Flange on Factory Hitch Interferes with Thule Snug Tite Hitch Lock and Anti-Rattle Device # THSTL2
Question:
The hex head on the standard Thule STL2 Hitch Lock Pin interferes with a flange on my Subaru 1.25 inch dealer-installed hitch receiver, which prevents me from getting it tight enough to be secure the bike carrier. Is there a socket head or smaller hex head alternative for the STL-2 pin?

Expert Reply:
I spoke with my contact at Thule and he recommends using the standard bolt that comes with their bike carrier in order to secure the rack.
The only locking hitch pin available from Thule is the Snug Tite Hitch Lock and Anti-Rattle Device, # THSTL2, and there is no way to alter this pin to make it work due to the flange on the Subaru's factory hitch.
